I am now beginning a build of the flapped version of the Ringmaster 576. After studying the plans I am not sure about the construction sequence of the trailing edge of the wing where the flaps are and how to cut the trailing edge sheeting. Also, building the formed leading edge with the stub ribs is something I have never done also.
If anyone on here has built this model and could help me with some advice, I would appreciate it.

John, when you cut the 1/8" thick spar to which you glued the stub ribs, did you cut the spar the exact width as the bottom of the stub ribs and did you bevel the edges of the spar any? Also do you remember how wide you cut the 1/16th that you bent around the stub ribs? It appears that the 1/16th formed balsa overhangs the spar by a little where you cut the notches for the ribs. It also appears you may have built the leading edge in two sections and then joined them together but it looks like you built the rest of the wing in one piece on the rod jig rather than building two sections and then joining the halves together. Is that right?
I am going to try and duplicate your jig if I can figure out your directions on building it.

One other question John. Is cutting the trailing edge sheeting in one piece better than splicing it like the plan shows?

That leading edge is problematic at best as is the carving the flaps. I glued the leading edge pieces to the ribs with an 1/8 spacer and used molded leading edges. The trailing edge I sheeted and cut the flaps out like it was a foam wing. Much simpler. The leading edge is the same for all the ribs.

I did build the leading edge in two haves and the wing in one piece. The spar is capped with carbon fiber and is the main load bearing part of the wing. The rest of your questions I don't remember. As others suggest built up flaps may be a good deal. I built mine from a kit provided to me by Pat. Pretty much built it from the parts in the kit and per the plans. By the way, per other posts (perhaps on the Brotherhood of the Ring site) it is stated that it flies as well without flaps as with them. D>K
