While attending the Spring Tune-up event at Delta Park in Portland Oregon I again witnessed what can only be described as the epitome of what this great sport is all about. A seasoned competitor sold a complete plane for a meager amount to a beginning competitor. While in and of itself you might say, so what? I was standing within earshot and heard one of his friends ask the gentleman who sold the plane, How come so cheap? The engine alone would have brought twice that on Ebay? The reply; He needed it and besides, my wall was full. Unable to keep quiet, I stepped forward and complimented him for his act of kindness. His reply is all to familiar: Thank you but I don't need any thanks, he will fly his heart out with that plane and that will be thanks enough.
If I ever had any doubts about the character of the guys who pursue this fun in the sun sport, they are gone. To each of you, starting with the founder of this great forum, Thank you for making all of this possible. It's only a great hobby because each of you give so much back to it.
