P51 Mustang I built last year. Haven't been on here for a while so I thought I would post this.

Cool airplane.  Hope to see you at the Nats next year after we get vaccinated.

Your garage door is just like mine, except it looks like nobody tried to drive a car through yours.

Truly one of your best Mustangs I think.

I keep waiting for pay back for the E2S that I sat on accidentally.  This one, with all the helium bags inside, would be a whole lot cushier.

As Frank Williams can attest I flew semi scale Mustangs for years. This one is number 13. There have been 2 B models along the way. One that I flew at the '86 NATS in Lake Charles. As you can see it is 53oz powered with a Jett .65 cast case side exhaust with tongue muffler. Finish is carbon veil with dope. Automotive clear as the finish coat.

With all of this COVID stuff going I got bored and started building number 14. I am going to do Al's Snaggle Tooth paint scheme. Thanks for all of the nice comments and yes Frank I haven't forgotten about E2S. :-)

Number 14 in the process of construction. Got to do something since being locked up with the significant other is not all it's cracked up to be.  ::)

That looks like a Bob Paul muffler from the 1980s.  Beautiful airplane.  It takes incredible attention to detail and novel construction techniques to hit the weight shown.  Good on you John

Jim you are correct. I got that muffler from Bob way back when. It's light and effective.

The P51B was flown at the NATS in Lake Charles in '86 I believe. Getting old and don't recollect exactly. The Reno air racer was built in '79 and painted in the Miss America paint scheme.

Kevin I don't know if you would want to pay the postage on that..  ;D

Kevin,

Just so you'll know.

The guy that purchased the ARGO used the UPS store for shipping.

300.00 and change plus 100.00 to insure the model for what he paid, 1000.00.

I just dropped it off wrapped in blister material and told them how to pack it.

It went to Tucson AZ and didn't get a scratch on it. I'm in TN.

J hill does really good work!

Why oh why would you put a .65 size motor in a 53 oz airplane? And please don't say "Because you can"  n~

What Paul said.  If John was building Mustangs until he got it right he can stop now!

Mr. John is this the same Mustang you had brought to El dorado and Houston?

By the way I have the flight video from that interesting flight in Houston last year. I need to get it uploaded.

James,

Yep that's the same one.

Ted,

You have a picture of the B model from the Lake Charles NATS. I think it was published in Model Builder in the stunt column.

Hi Paul, Thanks for the comments. I am still working up the nerve to build your P47. Have all of the electrics based on the Fioroti 'sp?'system. Frank McMillan has been flying one and has it working really well.
