Can you run Lowes 1" thick blue foam through a laser cutter?
-
I would make an uneducated wild ass guess that you could, you just have to adjust for power and speed of cut and go like mad!!If available, I think a water jet may be a better choice and even with that you would need to make major adjustments in pressure and speed.
Type at you later,

The laser beam spreads out a lot at 1/2 inch thickness, one inch is too much.

I would suggest hotwire using Formica templates.

Hotwire,
heated by laboratory supply unit, anyway.
Current adjustable in mA, voltage in 1/100 V steps. A 5A / 30V capable unit is fully satisfactory.

So I know the Flite Test guys use a laser or foamboard, and foam inserts in toolboxes are often cut with a laser.
I think it would work, but the focus on the laser may be different for thick foam.
