Title: foam template filler ?
Post by: jim gilmore on November 17, 2010, 07:47:48 PM
Ok, I'm cutting parts out for the 1/2A Shoestring  Maybe it should be a shoethread..
In any event I'm using that cheap foam board from the craft store and I want to fill in the gaps in the foam. Will plastic spakle work of does anybody have a better idea ?

Jim, nitro will eat that foam up so all exposed edges will need to be sealed! On my little platters i use titebond on the edges and gorilla glue to fill any large gaps.

Problem with the spackle is it crumbles and falls out of the edges as time goes on (no sticky) so you might use some cheap wood glue...like titebond or even the not so cheap gorilla glue...maybe mix in some balsa dust like a micro balloon mix and fill the edges with that...it will make the templates last forever and the glue mix will not deteriorate over time.

Not sure I fully understand this, but how about electric tape?  Just trying to help with an idea.

Oh well. Using foam is not working.  So back to the drawing board for template material. Tryinng to use something I have good access to. Maybe plastic from milk bottles.
