FM Plans Deal
« on: December 04, 2019, 08:56:48 PM »
Tis the season and I got this email from Thayer Syme about a plans deal from Flying Models Plans for those interested.

      Greetings from Flying Models,

As the current holiday season chases down yet another year's end, I want to take a moment to thank you all for your support over the past few years. And to make that appreciation more tangible, I also want to let you know that we are now offering free shipping for all orders over $75, received through December 9, 2019.

Just enter the discount code "CYBER19" at checkout.

In addition to the Flying Models legacy plans, we have also partnered with several other designers who were not published in FM, to provide their plans to our customers. These plans include Ivan Pettigrew's lightweight, stand-off scale electric models, Larry Sweat's gorgeous Boeing 314, and the complete Bearospace plan collection including Gary Webb's popular and easy-building RC sailboat designs, as well as Spike Webb's unique aircraft.

We are also offering nearly 300 back issues of Flying Models, as well as an assortment of tools and building supplies. And finally, we now have several short kits available due to popular demand, as detailed in their descriptions.

All plans are shipped rolled via priority mail within the domestic US, and are folded for international orders.
In cases where we cannot include back issues, books or other items with plans, we will ship as appropriate, and refund any excess charges once your order is on the way.

You may see all our listings at https://store.flying-models.com.

Please distribute to anyone you think might be interested, and as always, please do let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Sincerely,

Thayer Syme
Owner - Flying Models Plans

When they bought the rights, didn't the current owners (Thayer) pledge an attempt to bring the magazine back?

Probably like many others, I renewed and then received just an issue or two … and all I've seen since are exploiters, raising prices on old stock while producing a line of new products.  No magazine.

My impressions of some in the hobby go back many years prior to Carstens folding, your own mileage may vary …

Dennis,

Same here Dennis! I paid for two years worth of subscriptions.
I was hoping that tossing in a little extra money might help get
the magazine rolling. But, I haven't heard a word about my
subscription since.

Coupon code "CYBER19" does not work. Also tried CYBER19 still did not work give notice of not valid. Can you post an update. OPPS my bad didn't see the Dec 9 date. One thing that would be good is to offer snail mail shipping rate as an option, sometimes we don't need the plans that soon and can wait a week or so.

Best,    DennisT

I have found that a Thayer is great at sniffing out less expensive mailing rates if asked.
