Yes. Appears to be factual. And tragic.

That's terrible, condolences to the family and community. The pilots who master these unusual aircraft are a breed apart. I saw this airplane in the air at close range at the Half Moon Bay Airshow a few years ago, something I will never forget. Closest we can come to seeing a Horton wing in the air. We all need to treasure seeing these machines and the brave and skillful pilots who take them aloft.

Yes it's true, a buddy sent me the news a couple hours after it happened. A very sad loss of pilot and a significant piece of ultra rare aviation history.

I'm sure there will be many, but here's one report..

Narrowly averting disaster since 1964!

This is a tragic loss. Both of a great pilot, and an irreplaceable aviation treasure.  I am saddened for the loss the family has suffered.

This is SO sad - such a loss not only to people involved but to history. Some comments on the first link are also disturbing, showing a lack of understanding of just what this plane signified and willingness to pontificate on things of which the commentators know next to nothing. This plane was a living example of why they should have shown some humility and just tried to learn.
