Flying today Arlington , Washington
« on: December 04, 2015, 05:54:15 PM »
I feel the reason I got very little accomplished last Winter is the fact that I went flying 4 days a week so this year I haven't flown 5 times since I left Muncie in July. I set up a schedule last week that I'll allow myself 1 flying day per week in order to maybe get my other projects finished ( retirement is awful for a previously motivated man) Today was my day to fly so I drove up North & set up ... guess what ? Here comes the rain   after it cleared I put up the Junar during one of the flights at the top of the hourglass & saw the plane twitch violently & a real strong tug on my handle . The wind gust really slapped it. I thought I'd just tell this little item & say that I'll be flying in the wind more often  .
   Happy holidays, John

well John,,, pretty sure its a good thing to be awake when your flying,,

I am jealous,, because its rather unpleasant out here in eastern washington these days,, we have been either blowing away,, raining, snowing, or its in the teens temperature wise,, so I hide in the bedroom and make bzz noises,,( I fly electric,, no vroom nooises),,
For years the rat race had me going around in circles, Now I do it for fun!

And an approximation to burnt-electronics smell, I presume.

Down here in Eugene the weather allows us to go out more often than not but there have been more "nots" this winter than usual.  We're closed out of our usual airport flying site for the winter due to the need to park vehicles there, but have secured a new site in a county park next to a lake.  One entrance to the the park is closed to the public in the winter, but we have a permit to open the gate and fly on the grass there from November through April.  We've had two flying sessions so far, all going well. There are some houses behind some trees so we're being quiet at first and sneaking up the noise level a little bit a time in hopes the neighbors, if they can hear us, get used to us.  So far, so good.  The site is surrounded by trees on two sides, so we get some interesting conditions.  Last Sunday it was almost calm on the ground but about 15 mph up high, which resulted in some exclamations!  :o
Anyway, we're glad to have a place to fly in winter.
