Title: Flying time
Post by: john e. holliday on April 09, 2020, 12:43:46 PM
The old, old DOC here.  Now the daughter is not working with the shut down in effect I have considered taking the Suburban and go fly.  But by the time I get up, takes all the pills, have cup of coffee and get ready the wind starts.  The other day got up early to do laundry and noticed no wind.  The last few days have woke up early, like 7 AM and noticed no wind.  Wonder if it might help if I load up night before and go fly when I wake up that early, take my meds with me and a cup of coffee.  But then again I'm naturally alzy and will have to force my self.  Will let all know when I do.  Mark Hughes and I got some time in last Friday before they closed Buder Park. We have a super secret alternate flying site that we used yesterday for a few flights. WAY to windy today, 25 mph and gusting higher, probably normal for you Kansas folks! Will be burning some more fuel tomorrow morning.. In between, been working on cleaning the garage and basement and working on some small projects. This past three weeks on layoff has been the most consecutive days in a row not working that I think I have ever had. I'm calling it my practice for retirement! If this is what retirement is like, I think I will be able to adapt!
   Type at you later,

When I finished mowing the field the other day I got the airplane I brought out of the car and got set up-then I thought it was too windy for a new ship.  It's still in the car but heck-now they are calling for snow next week.  At any rate after this weekend I'm taking three or four weeks off to get away from people and the virus.  I hope to get a lot of flying weather.  The flying field is the only place other than home my daughter will allow me to go........

I sometimes skip a day with my meds. Or forget. Taking them in the afternoon. Guess it depends on what you take. Might try that once or twice in a month. See if energy is better. Drugs persist for days in our system. So. Afternoon dosing for one day shouldn’t matter. Being well is partly emotional, an optimistic outlook, or just feeling good, having fun. Figure out how to have some fun. Your opening remarks are funny. Thanks.

We get to fly in a park and the grounds keeper put a fresh cut on Tuesday and went flying on Wednesday. Put up a few flights and the wind was kind to Mike and myself. I even got a bit of sun on my face. Today the low was 32 so no flying till it gets warmer.

Yesterday I hit rock bottom.  Was cleaning up the shop and decided t re-sort my pin box.  You know, separate the straight pins from the T's and the glass heads, the large from the mediums & the smalls...   ~^

After spending a good hour of looking for them last fall I finally got my aerator out and found the center of the circle in my front yard.  Well, D anyways.  It's too bumpy on the Northwest side to consider taking off there.  So two weeks ago I put in 4 pavers so it shouldn't get lost.  Now I need to mark and mow it.  But as we live on the peak of a hill and I had to strap my BBQ grill down or pick it up from against my fence, it's only been NOT too windy a couple times the temps have been good this month and of course I've been babysitting those days.  But I'm tryin.

I've been sneaking over to a local middle school to fly. No one there, though I found it interesting the grass was freshly cut.
