Were the plans for the Flying Star published anywhere?

Charley Bruce long gone had the plans. Did search on AMA with no luck. Hopefully some one has a set. D>K

The flying star was made as something to attract attention.
It was nose heavy and flew like a pig.
If you built one, you would fly it one time, and then hang it up.

Or make some design changes before building it? It looks very nose-heavy in the photo. I believe that a Fancherized Flying Star might be less of a “pig” and might be worth exploring to drum up interest.

I would get more enjoyment seeing this than an endless procession of Jamison Specials and Humongii. So what if it just goes round and round?

Go ahead and build one then.

Oddly enough, a "Flying Star" showed up at the NW Skyraider's meeting last night. Lore has it that it was built and flown by Steve Stevenson, one of the club's founders. It is much smaller, with an OS Max .10 for power. The elevator is one piece and incorporates the two rearward points, so has pretty extreme chord and would suck up a lot of line tension to do any aerobatics. Remember that any control movements are really powered by line tension!
It looked like it had been flown, but I didn't notice any obvious repairs, so my guess is that it wasn't flown very many times. My experience has always been that the better a model flies, the longer it lasts and the more flights it survives. Unless, of course, it was only flown a few times and then hung on the wall. y1 Steve
PS: If you're seious, building it with electron power would be the way to go. Light motor up front, long wires back to the battery and gizmos.

Would be funnier if it was the flying middle finger.

It would be. I would want to make it with the finger outboard, so it was properly presented at the top of the wingover. Which leads me to the question: How close to D.C. is it legal to fly a CL model? S?P Steve
