Title: Flying Lines $$$$$
Post by: Leester on September 21, 2008, 09:58:51 AM
I'm not sure of the date on my last Brodak catalog 15a but it list's .012 X 52' X 2  lines for 7.85 and the .012 X 60' X 2 lines at 8.10 Just ordered some and there 12.99 and 13.99. I checked Sig and RSM and there's are this price also. I normally take the easy way and get Tom Morris lines, I haven't checked those yet. A 5.00 jump seems alittle much when you still have to make them up, I know I should get the large spools. I won't believe it's shipping prices either.

Bulk line is about 3 cents per foot from McMaster Carr, unless they went up recently.  That's under $4 for a pair of 60-footers.

Now,,,, does anybody have deal on glow plugs?   They're the real killer compared to 49 cents in the early days.

I gave up on packaged lines last summer.  MBS sells 1000' rolls, line reels, clips, eyelets, wrapping wire, etc...

The price of anything made of steel has gone stupid over the last couple of years. Lines are nothing compaired to steel siding and construction metals. Many items have almost doubled in price...

My pet peeve is the price of gravel.. Last Fall I was buying drive way gravel for $55.00 a load.. Right now it's 150.00 for the same load.. Fuel has not tripled so why has gravel....

Bob, most places the cost of gravel is basically just the cost of the fuel and labor to get it out of the ground and to your door, or where ever.  Just about every piece of equipment in the production line runs on diesel power, not just the delivery truck.

RSM has the same line for the same price, just in case you need a kit, some great wooden 10-6 and 11-6 props, and a kewl stunt engine, too.  y1 Steve

And I fully understand that but diesel hasn't tripled in price, actually not quite doubled.. I know a couple dump truck owners and the delivery price hasn't tripled but the price at the pit has.. Oh well can't change it and has nothing to do with model airplanes other than wanting to put a couple loads on the drive to the field.
