Flying in to the sun
« on: March 24, 2012, 09:21:17 AM »
The stunt season is coming up and at contests I always manage to have to look into to sun while doing a maneuver.  I have heard that there are some glasses that will allow momentary following an airplane thru a maneuver.  Could any body let me know what that would be.

Some guys/gals spend big bucks for the shades that are advertised in some of the magazines.   Myself I use the ones from Wally World(WalMart).   They work well for me when I don't forget to use them. H^^

I use a pair I got from an industrial supply company. Some would probably find them too dark but they work for me. I keep one pair at the clubhouse just in case I forget the other pair

Try "Extreme Glare Technology "  coated prescription glasses from Zurich International in Cal.
Bruce Holden is  the owner  and an optometrist by trade. He knows our needs and is an awesome guy who stands behind his product.
He'll sell you frames or  can use your old ones provided that they are in good shape. I sent my prescription from my Opthamologist( read M.D.) to him. Don't buy cheap stuff when it comes to your eyes.

One more thing, when looking at the sun,  momentarily close one eye. Believe it or not, you'll see the plane better. Something I learned from an old timer while flying R/C.

Yep! TRY IT GANG...
Used it during those years I entered Precision kite festivals in the early 90's.
A while back at  www.prismkites.com used to have a forum post about that same "closely one eyeball..concept when flying precision kite routines into the bright sun. Go to the Prism Kites forum search engine.
However now that I think about it...They Might require a username on their forum site when using their search engine?
