I am in the waukesha area, just west of Milwaukee.
Milwaukee has a club the circle-masters. I am not a member of the club yet. Their meeting are on Saturday afternoons and I coach youth sports, Saturdays are real tough.
They hold a stunt contest on fathers day. There are several others in the Milwaukee area that fly too.
There is a good hobby shop on the east side of Madison the hobby horse I believe. Mostly RC, but some control line stuff. There is a good control line shop in Milwaukee, kind of junky, but lots of parts and out of production kits.
Madison has a several active RC clubs, so that would be a place to start. Also there is a very good combat pilot about 30 minutes west of Madison in Boscobel, he holds 2 contests a year.
Oh yes, Welcome to the PRM (the people's republic of Madison). Enjoy the high taxes, beer and cheese. :)
Madison has been described as an island of liberalism surrounded by reality. Typical of a college town/ state capitol. It's a fun town, the summers are great the winters stink.

The stunt contest is on the 10th not Father's day which is the 17th.

Hello Dave and Chris, ET ALL.
Thank you for the information.
I think the description you gave Madison as being an island of liberalism... also applies here to Tucson. Even to the point the local newspaper is hailed as a Liberal piece of ..... and the TV stations are clearly on the side of the Illegal Aliens( they call them poor border crossers) and every fringe element of liberalism is almost as pronounced as the bastion of LIBERAL thought (San Francisco).
I am really looking forward to moving and seeing GREEN and WATER again instead of just shades of BROWN and dust.

Jim,
You better add ICE and White Snow to your list of things you will look forward to seeing. LL~
Summer starts around July 22 and ends around July 28. If blink you might miss it.
I went to watch the Brewers play the A's one July 4th weekend and froze by butt off. And another time I got up at 4:00 am to go fishing one summer and it was cold enough to see my breath. (And it was not just morning breath)

Hey Rootbeard
I hear you about the snow and ice. I was there last summer fro the end of July to the end ofAugust. When we drove there it was warm on the trip. When we drove back it was cool and wet all along the way.
My wife remarked about the gates installed on I-80 for the winter when they close the freeway. It will be interesting to see the Winter first hand this year instead of the News Channels. ~^

Aww, common guys, it's not that bad here. DK^
When the weather is nice, I'm working, and on the weekends, it rains or is windy. n~
Oh well, If I flew much more than the weather permits, I'd burn out my planes faster than I could rebuild them.
Think positive. ;D

Chris,
If I were you I would put snow skis on my plane, then you might get more handle time.
(on a side note I got pictures of a new Talon today)
Jim - Chris and give you all the in's and out's of Cheezehead country. #^ LL~
