Triple Tree Stunt Contest during Joe Nall Week
« on: May 17, 2018, 12:05:37 PM »
I want to thank Will Davis, Dave Wenzel, Bruce Jennings, and Wayne Robinson for their dedication and efforts during our shortened week. Another thank you to Saramarie and Rick Huff who arrived after 16 hours of driving to learn a few hours later the event had to be curtailed. Everyone's attitude was amazing and we all are excited about our next time there.

We still managed to get nearly 100 folks to try C/L on our RingRats and that alone is worth the trip. The smiles that are generated from this activity has to be personally seen to be fully appreciated.

The future? A couple of months ago, the Triple Tree Board decided to add a second Joe Nall Fly In the last week of September, 2018. This will be the first time for a second event in the same year. I have already heard from several of our contestants about their desires to reschedule our contest.

There are a lot of moving parts involved in making that decision: other C/L contests in the southeast, the availability of our 47 pre-registered pilots, the wishes of the Triple Tree community as well as those individuals who have been so generous to us and C/L at Triple Tree.

As the CD and the person who has made a personal commitment to Pat Hartness and the Triple Tree Board, I will be checking in with all parties to do what is best. I will keep you posted once decisions have been made; that process may take a while.

I want to also thank Sparky for posting the news on here within a few seconds of my call to him. He and so many others have also decided to donate their prepaid fees to Triple Tree rather than get their refund. I am proud to be associated with so may generous people.

We will be back for Joe Nall Week next May (2019): that is a guarantee.

Sorry it was cut short. The smiling faces and and new experiences make the effort worth it. We are now getting modelers bringing their old models out for us to help them get back in the air.
Always glad to help, till next time,
-WR

The cancellation of the Joe Nall events was a good call by the Triple tree Organization. This is not the place you want to be with a forecast of several inches of rain .  I live less than one hour from Triple tree and the weather has been unflyable all week , not to mention the thunderstorms , wind, rain and hail .

After we were told of impending weather we had one of the best days of flying you could have, perfect weather , perfect sun, light wind, I got alotof trim flights on a new model for Brodak's

We had a cookout at our Campsite for all of the attendees and we stayed past dark to enjoy the night flying light shows.

Thank you to all that attended, helped out setting up the field, trained the kids of all ages on the ringrats , and Especially to Mark Weiss for planting the seed for the idea of having Control line at Joe Nall and then following up with it for the past 7 years with many ringrats, tee shirts and  contacting the sponsors sponsors to keep it growing..

Looking forward to next year , ,,,, We will make the Best, Better

After careful consideration, I have decided to hold our next Triple Tree Stunt Championship next May during the traditional Joe Nall Week. The single biggest reason for this decision was the number of established contests scheduled in the southeast with dates very close to the last week in September.
Traditional events including Huntersville and the King Orange have long standing histories and I did not want to pull any contestants away.

This was not an easy decision especially considering the shirts and trophies are already produced and intended for 2018. It takes me about 4 months to get all the moving pieces together to ensure a great week. I know what disappointment feels like. The folks at Triple Tree made the right call. Life will go on.

I am bringing a few contest shirts to the Nats for those competitors who had registered for Joe Nall week and are flying at the Nats. If you are one of those folks, please let me know and I will bring your shirt with me. I am already bring shirts for David and Derek.

The first "Nall in the Fall" is scheduled for Sept 24-30, 2018. I know Will is planning on being there a couple of days. Right now, I plan to go along with the RingRats. The circles will be for open flying so if anyone wants to come and practice, you are certainly welcome. Again, there will not be a contest there this Fall.

Thank you for your understanding. Please feel free to contact me about anything connected with our presence at Triple Tree.
