Post by: Terry Bolin on October 23, 2010, 03:14:57 PM
Do anyone know of someone who has drawn a set of plans for the Flying Fool?
Thanks, Terry

Unless you are wanting to build a Flying Fool for nostalgia purposes I cannot imagine why you would want a set of plans to this horrible flying ship. Brodak kits a 38 Special biplane that is pretty good flying. You could build up the fuselage and get a pretty good plane out of it. But we all have a child hood memory of a plane from that era. I would love to have my '55 Chevy back again. Heaven for me would be to have my special lady with me in my 2 dr. hardtop Bel Air, listening to old tunes on the radio and crusin' some local drive inns. In Fort Worth we use to have at least half dozen places to cruise on a Friday night. My wife says they use to cruise Broadway in Hobbs, NM back in the 60s. We went back there a couple of years ago and drove the abandoned strip. It was some fun reliving her memories after all these years............enjoy your building.

Jerry

There was a gentleman in Fargo ND flying a Flying Fool in stunt the year I got to attend their contest.  He wasn't doing too bad either.  It is not a bad flying ship if the leadouts are moved forward a bit and balanced accordingly.  Not a NATS winner, but a fun plane to play around with.

I have an old kit plan that someone sent me (sorry I can't remember his name) but it is cut up and the templates that were on the plan are missing.  If someone could please scan and email them to me I would be very appreciative. H^^

There is a post over on R/C Groups in the control line section, of a guy that is building a Fool, and I think he is selling plans for it on a cd. You might want to check it out. Said he had a kit and drew the plans from the kit pieces.

Yea I seen that post and was following his rebuild. But $20 for a cd is a bit steep for me. Now if he would go to kinkos and print them out I would spend 10-15 :)  but $20 for a cd and then taking it to kinkos and spending no telling how much more for it to be printed would probably be around another 20 or so ( dont know never done it) so it be like paying $40 or so for plans when I could have gotten a Mongoose or something :D

Just google R/C Groups. I think it is rcgroups.com. If you google it, it will come up first thing on the list. Then scroll down to the control line forum.
