Title: Flyin' at the Narrows
Post by: Randy Powell on July 09, 2011, 07:31:45 PM
Well, Pete Peterson, Steve Helmick, Big Erik, Rod Claus and I flew at the Narrows today. While the place is a turbulence farm, it was pretty good today. I found out that flying with a loose header is a bad idea, Pete's new Caprice is an awesome plane and coming into trim nicely, Rod is flying Mike Havely's old Oriental Plus pretty well, Steve is wearing out the old Kiss profile Mike H. built and Erik is making progress. Fun day.

I not-flew today, so you did better than I did.  I went out to fly with my RC club, flew my RC once to be sociable, mowed half the control line circle, then attended our monthly meeting.  By the end of that even the fast gassies were zooming down the field one way and crawling back upwind the other, and my allergies (or something!) had hit so bad I could barely keep my eyes propped open with a stick.

@#$%.

Tomorrow I go to meeting with the Fireballs, hopefully I'll fly.  Maybe I'll stick with the grass circle, though...

Well, I've almost got my plane fixed again.

Should say that the header came loose. Bad enough to actually loose one of the header screws. It also did some minor damage, but I have that mostly fixed. Should be good to go in another day or so. Can't have the plane mess up at this point. It's taken me a year to get it flying pretty well.
