No fuel from Fox

I just got word that Fox will no longer sell fuel. Was this discussed on the forum, or as usual,  did I over-look it?

Burn Riches Brew, it's a good price and Randy will custom mix what you want for no extra cash.

News to me. I had good luck with Fox fuel when I ran it. The problem in recent years has been availability, and I have been surprised that they were still making it.

Just got off the phone with Sharon and she informed me that they are no longer making any fuel.

I did order some 10-29 all castor as well as 10-22 all castor from FHS, they said that it will ship tomorrow.

Regards, Phil

"YES, RICHARD,  IT IS TRUE.  I UNDERSTAND THAT SIG MANUFACTURING
MAKES THEIR FUEL WITH CASTOR OIL.  YOU MIGHT CHECK THIS OUT.

Hope they have enough parts to keep the old Fox .35 Stunt engines going for the next couple of decades.

John, in my conversation with Sharon regarding the fuel, she indicated that they would no longer be producing any fuel
I asked her if they were going to stop producing engines and she indicated that they had no planes to get out of the engine manufacturing business.

Regards, Phil.

It is a sad day. Fox Superfuel has been around almost as long as the Fox 35. We ran a lot of it back in the 60's when all of the guys that I flew with used it in our Foxes and McCoys as that was all we flew. I really miss those times when we use to go fly almost every weekend and lots of evenings in one ball park or another, and no one complained about noise. Dick and Duke supplied us with many hours of great enjoyment. It seems like everything I loved about this hobby in both control line and R/C is almost extinct. Time marches on I guess.

Jim, simpler times and simpler pleasures but I guess every generation says the same thing. It is sad to see the demise of Super Fuel as well as Missile Mist and all the other fuels that Fox manufactured A can of Super fuel a couple of your fav planes and your best flying buddy could fill your day.
A lot of the new stuff is great and I use it, but it just ain't the same'

I have to say I used a lot of Duke's Fuel back in the ST46 days, with satisfactory results.   I still have a quart Superfuel can that I will use if I ever start flying classic (just the can, the fuel is long gone), just to look period.

As I have stated in the past, "Any one that can run a Fox can run any engine".   I know a  few that can't even run an OS LA. S?P

Not confirmed, but was told at the flying field last night that Fox got jumped on by the EPA???...Over improper shipping practices. Something about the type of tape they were using to seal the boxes. Again...and I repeat!...This is not confirmed, but what was stated at the field.   ???

GLOW PLUGS !!!!

I still want the glow plugs.  Even Randy Ritch can't copy them.

I've heard that there are at least 27 new Fox 35 Stunts for each person who still wants to run one.

Paul, I don't know if he can help, but contact Al Kelly at Merlin glo Plugs and see if he has an equivalent, he has been very instrumental in plug development.  His email used to be akelly@merlingloplugs.com

I think you will find the yield on something like the Thunderbolt or Glo-Devil is much higher than you got with Fox.

Maybe so, but if we don't have Duke, 35 Stunts blessed by Duke, or his fuel, at least we can use his plugs as long as they last.

I didn't mean to imply that I don't have empathy for Fox as a company, I do. I just prefer other glow plugs for stunt engines.
It is a shame that they have decided to stop selling fuel and fuel ingredients. Due in most part to the "Homeland Security" regs on storing Nitro, the "DOT" regs on shipping flamables, and the ridiculus HazMat fees imposed by UPS/FedEx; we are seeing more and more small (some not so small)vendors get out of the fuel business. I have mixed my own fuel for over 40 years and it's become almost impossible to buy Nitro in CA. because of the above regs.
The NHRA rules on fuel have pretty much handed VP Racing a monopoly on nitromethane in the US as far as small to medium purchasers go and the current price reflects that. It's almost doubled in the last couple years.

1,000 yrs. from now they will be digging up Fox .35's and Cox .049's, along with mysterious paved circles.

As far as plugs, many of us thought there could be no replacement for the Champion plug when they stopped production in ~1957.  H^^
