We had 3 of 4 circles going,it brought back the old days. one good thing is that now i fly on the main circle, back in the day i was in the far grass circle.

It was a really great day. I plan on having my new "E" T-Rex out this weekend. Hopefully those crowds will increase as we move further into the season.

I flew there as a kid. It seems like there was cyclone fenced circles like a speed cage. Are they still there?

The concrete circles were for the "stars". If you weren't a 'star", it was the grass circles for you!! I spent a lot of time on those grass circles. Traveled da^& far to get there too.

Great pictures.  I remember the old City Park circle on Sunday afternoons.  No signup sheets and everybody got at least 3 flights.  Stunt, racing, scale and combat all on one circle.  If you had a scale plane all the people stopped what they were doing to watch.  Even breaking in engines off to the side.  Some of us decided we needed more time to practice rat race and started going out on Saturday mornings.  During the summer most were out of town at contests in different parts of this area.  In fact the NATS and Wichita were the furtherest away contests.  Sure miss those days.  If only I could get someone over in KCMo to talk to the city about the circle at the old River Front Park.  It is a concrete donut.  Last time I climbed the levee to the locked gate I could see it was still there.
