Despite the big differences in our locations relative to eachother, the FLU is also going on around here too at this time.

Tuesday my son's school called and said he developed a fever and to get him.  Wednesday I took him to rhe Dr.   he was given tamaflu and cough meds.  Yesterday I got it.  I'm telling you this is a bad , miserable situation.  Neither of us have had it in a long time.  It is so bad the school set up free clinic.

My point is, stay a long way from people exhibiting symptoms.

I had never had the full experience myself until it hit me at about 4:30 in the morning the day of the Golden State contest in 2014. 3:00 AM, I was fine, by about 4:30 I thought I was going to die. That persisted for most of the rest of the week. No fun.

Had the flu a few weeks ago and it was pretty bad for 4 days. The good news is it leaves as quickly as it first hit.

I shouldn't say this it might bring bad karma but I have never had the flu. I guess it might be a record at 71 but I take all of the usual precautions and also have a flue shot every year.

I have had the flu several times over the years. I have been getting the flu shot for at least 10 years. This year they gave me the more powerful shot for older persons ,my age 76, and did not tell me they were going to do it. The next day I came down with a lot of flu symptoms. As the day went on I got in a bad condition with my legs swelling and pain everywhere. The doctor saw me right then with no delay as this is a known condition that can go on to many life threatening problems. The swelling went down with a drug to handle it but it took over a month to get rid of the joint pain. Five months later and I still have some problems that may never go away. That was the last flu shot for me. Arthritic people tend to have small problems to the flu shot. People with Fibromyalgia sometimes have mild symptoms. If you have both like I do be careful with flu shots. n1

I've never had a "flu shot". I did get the Shingles Shot and the Pneumonia Shot. The problem with the "flu shot" is that they have to guess what strain of flu virus is going to come this year. It's decided by committee, so...well, that's a problem in itself. But a few years ago, they predicted wrongly, and the flu shots did absolutely nothing.

Meanwhile, if you have the flu, stay home, but most important, stay the he!! away from me!

Last April I had rescheduled myself to get the shingles shot because of a back up at the Pharmacy that I use. Figuring the next week would be good. I came down with the shingles and missed the timeline for the shot to be effective(72 hrs from onset.
we are in February and while I didn't get the blistering that you see on TV it was painful pimples  and nerve irritation that you couldn't believe. It also permanently shut my tear glands down. Mind you I was one of the unluckey ones that got it on the right side of my face. Real fast trips to my eye surgeon to have it checked for infection or damage, thankfully it wasn't infected. But the nerve irritation has lingered and it is not unusual in cases to have lingering effects for a year or more, also you can become re infected. I have had every other shot but the luck of the Irish let me down on this one. If you have not had the shot spend the few hundred bucks it cost to get it. The alternative will certainly change your mind as to its worth.
