   Hey Dave;
The video isn't working on my end. Anybody else able to see it? I can view Shug's video just fine.

Funny but sad!  For those of us in the hobby it is funny.  For new comers I am not sure they will be inspired to try it.  Flight Test has quite a following and gets a lot of hits.  But say, I guess any exposure is a good thing  n~

I guess it's funny but all it shows is a bunch of enthusiastic Klutzes!  Would anyone be interested in trying it if they didn't know that it could be done a lot easier than that!

I seriously doubt it!

You all ought to look at their site, the number of followers and their methods before you get too critical.

They have developed a following and a brand and products from doing 2 shows like this a week.  All their stuff is foam and hot glue.
The number of viewers is very large.

They also have and event that draws more people from all over the world.  http://www.flitefest.com/about/

http://www.flitetest.com/

they have it figured out.  How to get people and kids involved.
Users on this forum will are ague that they are not developing modelers, but they re getting people to build and fly simple things and having fun doing it.

They turned thin into a full time paid gig here.

How long to get 40,000 views on a control line video?  A year, they can do it in 2 days.

Yes, they look like they are having a blast.  How many of us remember the ads in the magazines and articles for trainers and fun type control line planes.

This goofiness and laughter reminds me a lot of me and my chums teaching ourselves without adult help

Cut fingers, crunched planes, no idea other than logic to try launching in different positions relative to the wind... many half laps resulting with a plane chasing one of us all around as we desperately tried to get away for the screaming poor Enya

Not sure if this is a good or great video to attract new CL blood but It sure did make me smile with the memories of this same goofy fun!

This was great. These guys were having such a good time it was fun to watch. I almost spat out my coffee when the plane rekitted itself on the "wingover" and these guys started to crack up. I did too but managed to keep the coffee from going anywhere. Nice post.

Sorry....not the least bit interesting for me, 40,000 viewers or not.  It's not really CL flying it's just clown buffoonery!  OK if you're into that but definitely not CL flying!

Just another clown act and not a very good one.  I'd much rather watch Shug!  And he also flies pretty good for real!

This sort of thing is not going to increase interest in CL flying.

Sorry but I have to be honest about the way I feel about it!

Hello all, Randy all due respect, but this reminds me of my first flights with an old Cox plastic plane. Ask anyone out there and I'm sure we all looked  like those guy's did on our first flights. If it wasn't for the broken cox model's I would have never built my first all balsa Scientific kit with a motor from a busted plastic model. We fly at an RC field and have turned a few die hard RC'ers into controlline flyers. It may look like a clown show but you have to start somewhere. Hopefully some of those 40,000 viewers will also watch some of Shug's great video's and get the bug to try controlline.

They have some really cool ideas for that, and there are lots of designs on their site.  At least some of them could be CL-ified with very little work.

If you buy Dollar Store foam board it is (A) the cheapest by far, and (B) the paper falls right off the foam if it gets wet.  However, if you treat the paper with urethane spar varnish, then it's waterproof.  FliteTest sells waterproof foam board, but it's more expensive (and a bit heavier), only comes in boxes of 50 sheets, and then you have to pay absurd shipping costs because it's oversize.

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

I've watched quite a bit of the Flite Test guys and they are a hoot.  Pretty creative bunch gluing up cheap Dollar Tree (my wife used to manage one of their stores) foam board and a hot glue gun.  They offer a pretty sophisticated razor knife.  Probably not needed but it does offer an accurate way of cutting.

Anything which promotes the hobby and innovation is a good thing.  They could use a better handle.

I was in a hobby store which Pete Bergstrom used to own when a guy came in to buy a CL kit.  When asked if he needed a handle he told the clerk they'd simply hold on to each end of the string to fly it.
