Flight report
« on: December 10, 2006, 01:13:02 PM »
I am sorry I have no in flight photo's to share. However I will tell you this the airplane will trim out nicely. It fly's as close to number 2 as I could have hoped for. I do have a slight twist in the inboard wing I will steam out before the next outing. The 15 in prop works just as good as I was hoping for. Kinda like just what the doctor ordered. I let the plane go at 8500 and it broke into a solid 4 stroke and beeped at the tops. The big prop acts as a brake coming down hill. I will attest to this the PA.75 is the best engine I have ever used! 7.5 ounces of 5% nitro for the flight.

About the coolest thing I could say about this plane is I had to add no weight to get to balance. I guess after building 3 I should know where to put the weight.

The Phacade for sure.  I'll probably not have the Hamburger repaired yet.  I'd like to bring the Big Mac to try it for the first flights.  Might even come down a day earlier to get that chance.

Crist,

Just use the first flight the mourning of the contest as the maiden flight, I've done it many times (always exciting to do it this way).

I think flying in the "mourning" sounds like bad karma to me!

What prop were using using on the #2.  The plane looks good.

13.75 3 blade. I didn't have as much ground clearance on it.

I would never have had the nerve to fly a first flight for something so nice off asphalt.  Grass is more than hard enough for me.  Can you give a rough estimate of the time you have in this airplane build?  Very rough.

I would say in this one somewhere around 350-400 hrs. 6 months which is a long time for me.

Sparky,

In this picture, the different shades of gray on the upper surfaces and the light panel lines look very convincing.  It looks even better than the "in the shop" pix.

Congrats!

Looks nice Spark. And I imagine that power is not an issue. What was the final weight?

Wish I had a field like that to fly on. Sigh...
