Okay, my area had a man made disaster with an email provider.  They sold to another company who decided to "improve" the service, and as a result there are several hundred folks here like me who not only cannot access their email, but also are finding it nearly impossible to successfully contact that company.
Talk about ticked off...you bet.  Been trying now for six weeks!
So, I now have a new address that will take me a couple hundred years to get out to the extensive address book I had.

Just for reference, who was 'that company'? For future reference only. FWIW, my brother has a very funky ISP in Eastern California. He said they're two brothers operating out of an old gas station. I don't know why he puts up with it.

I've been through various 'free' email providers and finally using Yahoo for at least 2 decades now. They're ok, but watch your spam folder for non-spam emails.  Steve

Steve, thanks for the heads up on the spam folder, I'll put that on the "daily check" list.  The new "provider" is brightspeed.  The former was centurylink.net and i couldn't have been happier with their service.

Aw...Centurylink...had them as an ISP for awhile. Every time the call center in India called my phone number, my computer went offline. Got sick of that pretty quickly.  Steve

Yes, gmail and yahoo addresses are some of the more stable ones, and not tied to a particular ISP available in a particular locale.  More than one friend has gone that route.  I think you'll like your new home.  I've had 15 years of good service from yahoo.

THAT is very encouraging, thanks.  I orignally established the service as a means to join iTunes without the constant messages from them on my Thunderbird program.
With this encouragement, I'm going to switch my Thunderbird over to Yahoo!
