Flew my R/C Ares today !
« on: May 22, 2018, 08:53:46 PM »
If you go to the Philly Fliers facebook page there is Part 1&2 of a short video we made at the field today. I'll ask my pal Rich Martinez to format it so I can post it here with some still pics. It was a interesting project. The plane was one of two I bought at a yard sale. I'm thinking the father and son each built one from plans more than 30 years ago or more based on the hardware found in the planes.Last year I posted pics of the one I rebuilt for Classic stunt work. The one used for the R/C version was a real mess. Anyway the R/C version ended up weighing 53oz ready to fly ,OS 32, 6 servos, 2000mah Nimh 5 cell pack. Specturn 7 channel TX and Rx. Try to get over to the Philly Fliers FB page and check it. She flew well......What a pleasant surprise.

No such thing as too much fun! Anyway,I'm going out to the R/C field in a bit to continue trimming the R/C Ares. I put a spinner on it and a tongue muffler. Hopefully I'll get the engine running better and try out all of the flap options I have to fool with. BTW, I also flew my stunt Ares yesterday.i'm trimming the fuel tank height for proper upright/inverted flight.  None of my control line planes can turn a corner like that Ares. Yo, did you ever fly the big "Delta'?
