Flew about 60 kids
« on: September 16, 2016, 04:42:36 PM »
Last weekend our club flew about 60 kids young and old.
AMA sent there trailer down and kids got to play on the simulators. Then turned them over to us to fly some control line on Ring Rats. We have done this for the past 3-4 years.
It was hot but the kids had a blast.

Looks like Mr. Jim had as much fun as the kids did.

Right off, I thought it's a mistake to say "about 60 kids". Park Departments and City Councils might be more responsive to an exact number. Adults might count also, but probably to a lesser degree. They are used to dealing with statistics and an exact number would be more welcomed as believable.

What does it take to get the AMA to send their trailer, I'm wondering? What does that trailer provide, other than a simulator. Is that a controline simulator? Did they sell stuff? How far will they send it? Is 3,600 miles round trip too far? What was the backstory of the day? Aviation Day, Scouting Day, Kentucky Day, what? Seems like there must be more to the story than the first post. Is there an article planned for Model Aviation?

All that aside...GOOD JOB!  y1 Steve

Thanks guys
Yea the rest of the story.....
For the past four or five years our club is been asked to go out to this fall festival called goat days. we didn't start counting kids until we already flown probably a half a dozen or so but Jimmy did take a running tally and the number was 60 total kids once he started taking count.  It was all day on a Saturday.

There will be something in model aviation and I'm not sure but i think it did cost the club some money to have the truck come down a club member took care that.

Ahhhhh..."Goat Days". That explains...not much! Is the Goat the Kentucky State Critter or is the local HS's mascot the Goat, or what? I recall Winchester, TN, had "The Crimson Clover Parade". I guess it was a big deal; could be wrong.  D>K Steve
