2014 W/C Bids
« on: April 17, 2012, 08:27:59 AM »
Just looked up the bids for the 2014 CL WC's on the FAI's web site. If Australia Or Brazil gets it I wouldn't mind being a judge or just being there in some capacity.  #^  y1 Just sayin.  H^^

Turns out that the Brazil bid is "Tentative" and I have heard rumor that it will be withdrawn.

On the other hand, a "Firm" bid has been submitted from Poland. Bid document attached.  (First part below, second in next post.)

This weekend in Lausanne it will be decided.

It's about time for the USA to put in another bid don't you think?

Didn't see that part, I figured that wasn't the whole story. But for US it seems 2016 or later seems likely. If we put in a bid.

PJ,

Yea, but the contest would have to be held in January to get the heat,. If held during the normal time, we'd need to bring our thermal knickers.

I would try to go to check out the contest if held in Poland. I have the last name for it.

I wonder how much support the AMA would give for doing the W/C here in the USA. Seems like they are reducing support for FAI, not increasing it.

If you look closely at the bid documents that I posted, you will see that the site the Poles have offered shares the same characteristics as the one this year in Bulgaria: one existing paved circle and a lot of promises.

Hosting a WCHs in the U.S. is not so much a question of AMA support as it is finding some fool person willing to give up a couple of years of their life to organize it and then run it.

Keep in mind that the F2 World Champs is NOT JUST STUNT! It is four complete events of which F2B is one. (Usually not even the largest in terms of participation at the WCHs.) To run a World Champs you have to be concerned with ALL of them. And that is why the PIC is hard to come by. Most think only of their own discipline and that just isn't enough.

What time of the year would that be? Night time?

I think Bill Lee gave up more than two years of his life for the 2004 World Champs.   The logistics has to be something.   Not only having a great contest site with practice areas.   But, the housing of teams, transportation and getting supplies.   Then lining up all the officials for each event.   I don't know how much the AMA really had to do with it.   I think Bill and his team did a stupendous job.   Too bad our own Team USA weren't as supportive of each other as the other world teams I seen and talked to.   What an experience it was for me. H^^

Maybe Bill could write a book on running the World Champs.

There is little difference between the European Championships and the Worlds..
