Today is the first lay up of the wheel pants. They are a true composit layup. 1/2 glass, CF vial then 3/4 oz cloth. Set into a bag with parting cloth and a absorbent mat.

Robert what's the white material in mold. Is it breather cloth directly on glass cloth.
The vacuum tube should be attached to breather cloth for even distribution of pressure.
I will send photo.
Robert are you using any heat to cure epoxy ???

Peel ply on first then breather cloth. No heat. its Ezlam epoxy resin. Trust me it is even.

Not yet on the armsits. Should be this week Those two black bent bars are for 1/3 scale Extra RC tail wheels mounts at $50.00 each. He set his own price. That's where the money is!

We use the same technique in the Airlines for bonded repairs to flight controls and fairings.
We also use heating pads depending on ambient temp. and size.
A heat lamp would work on a project this small.

Well the first wheel pant out of the mold had some flaws. The mold is a virgin mold and some of the paint came off onto the pant. Other than that the prototype is a success! It weighs 7 grams. I use to think $50.00 for a set of wheel pants was high. Try making some and you will get a grasp on what it is really worth. I was going to try to produce these but they will be only made on a prepaid basis and I will only do a few. There is a ton of work that goes into these.

So today I will fix this mold and do another one. But first its off to the field.

Is this the only shape/type you will have available? IOW could you do a custom order if I had a obscure shaped pant?

Yes I can do custom but its pricey.
