Sunday was just a perfect day for the first flight of the year and the first flight on my new Cardinal Profile that I hope to campaign this year. Anticipating this day, I had everything ready. I had scouted out 2 flying sites, one grass and the other paved. Logic told me that the grass field would be best for the untried aircraft so off I went with the plane and all my support equipment. I had checked out the site a week prior and it looked great but the grass had grown some. What the hey I thought. I had flown off grass higher than this before. Stop looking for reasons to postpone. The sun is shining, the temp is 75F and there is no wind. OK, so the stooge is ready and the plane is fueled. An almost new set of Tom Morris lines were rolled out and attached. Hoo-Ahh I'm ready. I attach the Ni-Starter to the plug and get the bump right away. One flip and the Big Art OS40fp growls it's intent to do business hauling this stunter. As I walked out to the handle I could scarcely belive my good fortune on this day. Everything is going just right. I crouched down in just a certain way I had once seen a very good flyer do as he gave the left arm wave for his plane to be released and the stooge released the plane for it's take-off roll. Gaining take off speed quickly I prepared for lift off just as my lines hung up on a wild onion weed about half way between me and my new plane. Back pedaling at an amazing rate for an old timer, I almost got line tension back as she hung up on another wild onion weed. How could this possibly be happening, I thought as I watched the plane do a 360 before finally chewing up my best set of .015's. After a quick look around to make sure no one saw this keystone cop routine, I quickly gathered up my stuff and headed off to the paved site where I enjoyed a great day of flying and triming the new ship. That's my story and I'm stickin to it.
