I finally have my Barnstormer finished. Well almost, it is waiting for its canopy that I forgot to order from Windancer Models. Power is provided by a Fox 35.

Bill Sawyer will get it to me shortly but test flights will be done without it.

Why risk damaging a good canopy.

Yes, thats me holding the Barnstormer.

That is my old reliable Fox 35.

The model finished out at 30 oz including a 1 oz spinner weight which will be removed when I get a stock muffler to put on it.

Clancy,

A "Barnstormer" is not a "Barnstormer" without the stitched canopy.. That is part of the personality of the airplane.

HI Mark,

Clancy can clarify, but I'm pretty sure he ended up using transparent orange monocoat. We discussed color combos late one night in the chat.

Received the Canopy from Bill "Windancer Models" Sawyer. The Canopy looks great and I just had to install it. But I prefer that a "pilot" be visable in the model. Went shopping for a "Pilot" and found a bobble head squirl that I could not resist.

Here are photos of the Barnstormer with Canopy installed and a close up of my "Pilot".

The Barnstormer is one of many on my ten lifetime build list.

I got as far as photo copying the ugly pilot and prepping him for the cockpit detail.

It finally happened!!!!

Got two flights on the Barnstormer during the Indy Sportliners monthly club "meeting". Photo of the flight line.

Acquired a hemi head and stuffer backplate from Marvin Denny and installed them on my old Fox 35. Best that engine has ever ran. Thanks Marvin, and also thanks for the information on blending Dukes Fuel to run in a Fox 35.

Steve Couch made the first flight and the engine sounded great doing a 4-2-4 just like every one describes. Steve put it through most of a pattern and his only comment was that you only had to think of a turn and it was done.

Jack Sheeks made the second flight and said it was a good flying plane but it needs about 2 more ounces of nose weight. It currently balances at 1 1/2 inches behind the leading edge per the plans.

grew up in wakefield,mass. local paper,wakefield item printed plans for guillows, as result printer gave me all plans i wantedso built bstormer as first scratchbild at age 12,19, nd now63.last 2 with flaps 1-1 flew great!!gave it to nephew. what did you end up with for cg??thanks for posting your exp so far rob

Clancy, now you need to fly it and adjust to your preferences. Everybody has their own feel and taste as far as contro of a stunt plane. I like mine to where they are just on the nose heavy side. I have a tendency to over control. Have fun, DOC Holliday

My Trixter turned out hopelessly tail heavy. Go easy on the finish on the back of the plane.

Yup! All my barnstormer experiences (3) had the balance point way forward of "normal". John Miske told me early on to start about 1" behind the LE. He was right, but have no idea why.
