Whew......it has been since the Carolina Criterium Contest this past October that I have flown the full stunt pattern. Got out on a windy day a couple of days ago and finally got a full pattern in on my Prowler with the OS .40FP.
It felt so good to get through it. I can see the work I need to do to tighten up and all but just getting throughit makes a feller feel alive I say...alive.
Just putting this up for any of you that need a distraction or maybe even inspiration to get out and grab a handle and fly, fly. fly.

Hey Peter.....flying the pattern has truly helped my focus issues. Lock in and try to do it right is on my mind.

Looks pretty good but one little (OK a couple) constructive comments. May be camera perspective, but it looks like your overhead eights are low and in front of you rather than straight overhead. Your first loop has to start at absolute vertical to set up the rest of the maneuver, don't rush it and keep them the same size. You're flying your maneuvers large which is OK while you tune it up, but can cost you points, flying the vertical 8 and hourglass the tops both looked like they were behind you. Just trying to help.
Oh yeah, looks like that airplane turns very well.

I agree with you. Though the camera angle makes it look worse. I do cheat those tops a bit behind me and will until I find the groove I am working hard to get. Got out today for a session too. Working on getting a decent engine run and timing my fuel. Still getting a cut out on the cloverleaf every third flight or so. So much to work on.

Shug, watched the video and it looked like extra laps on the inverted portion also some extra squares. Once you have the needle set the way you want it, do the pattern the same time after time with what ever corrections that need to be made. When I was in the zone, so to speak, I could count ten laps after the clover and set up for landing. Yes sometimes it might be 8 laps or even 12 laps, but I knew when to get ready for the hard part, the landing. The easiest maneuvers are the ones we usually give away points on. I remember the late Allen Brickhause telling me over head 8's were great, but the rest of the pattern sucked. And as I have said before keep the videos coming. H^^

At some point you'll want to stop doing that. Probably after the first time you miss out on your pattern points at a contest.
I always do an extra level lap, both upright and inverted. I didn't used to -- then I missed out on my pattern points at a contest...

And fly every part of the pattern as if it were judged, too -- judges try not to grade you down for wingwazzles when you should be doing level laps between maneuvers, but why bring up the issue?

I'll get there. Normally we would not even be out flying in Minnesota but Global Warming is working in our favor this year.
