My recreation of one dad built and first flew in 1972. I used pictures, calibers, guessing and a whole lot of compromises to build this. The color is all electrical tape for now. If it flies well, I may strip it and repaint it. I started to paint it like dads, but got some runs on the cowling, stripped it and decided to use tape until I see if it flies or not. Unfortunately, it will be a lot harder to paint now because the top wing is no longer removable as the last step was to epoxy the cabane struts into the top wing center section. I guess I could cut the cabanes and sleeve them if I repaint it. Anyway, thanks for all your help with my million questions on this site. The honorary test pilot will be Joe Gilbert, who knew dad and remembers the original Starduster Too he kept in the back corner of the Spartan hangar at Riverside Tulsa. I've had a few chances to buy the real plane back over the years, but the model more closely reflects my financial reality !!
