Final position of the US F2B team??
« on: August 04, 2008, 06:46:11 AM »
Guys,

Does anybody have the "for sure" final position of the US team?

The unofficial scores seemed to indicate a strong possibility of 1st place........

Thanks,
Jim

Jim I don,t know Sorry);but;I sure would like to!
I was told by a creditable (to me)source, that team members highest flight score ea. totaled, dictated the
team placing.
If that is correct It appears to me ( I did the math) the US team is number one!.
it seems strange that we haven,t heard.
I personally, am elated that DF won : It would certainly be satisfying if the team results are the same.

Guys,

I just noted that Keith Trostle posted on SSW that the US Team did, indeed, win first place!!

WOW!!

I have not seen an "official" team listing from the World Championships.  The methodology to determined team standings is based on individual placings AFTER the finals are completed.  The placements for each of the team members are added for the three person teams. (If the Junior flyer placed higher than any of the senior flyers, that junior's score is counted and the lowest scoring senior from that team is not used in the calculation.  If the previous World Champion is competing as an independent and is not on the official national team, that placing is not used in the calculation.)

The USA team placed 1, 6 and 7 for a total of 14 points = 1st place

The Chinese team placed 3, 5 and 9 for a toal of 17 points = 2nd place

The Slovakian team placed 2, 4 and 20 for a total of 26 points = 3rd place.

Congratulations to David for his impressive perfomance and to the entire team for the incredible hard work to secure the Team Championship.

Also, congratulations to Igor for his impressive second place.

Keith,

A small point that doesn't change anything, but the U S scores of 1, 6, & 7 total 14 not 15.  Congrats to all our team especially Dave for a long awaited and well deserved individual win.
