Sad to let every one know as of yesterday I was called and told that the owner of the field was shutting things down for reasons that would be talked about at a later time. Looks like The KING ORANGE will not be in ST Augustine Florida this year club is looking for A new site

I know I speak for all when I say Thank You! to you and the X47 Club for all the work you all put into hosting KOI.

I am sure the owner / Host has god reasons for suspending the operation. Hopefully a change /resolution in the future will allow some use of that wonderful expanse of grass and FL Sunshine!

Well....I guess we old patriots are being moth balled, in favor of change. I remember when they changed from inches to centimeters....they changed the recipe of Coke....the chili my mom used to make by the gallon[recipe] was phased out by McCormick[chillo].......I just found out they changed ritz crackers....I'm sick of all this change. Oh...I'm real sorry y'all lost the field. If ya want, you can come use my field(s) free! H^^

VD~ All right this is discussing! The X47's have worked hard on the site and now for some reason as yet unknown it is gone! For all of us in Florida and all the others that came to KOI this is horrible news. Most of us thought the KOI was set for the rest of time. To bad this is no longer so. I am so sorry that this has happened.

Nothing is set in stone anymore.  Hope you guys can get a decent replacement.   City parks won't even talk to me anymore and I gave up on creating/forming a club.  So I drive 70 miles to Topeka to fly when in the mood and the body is willing. H^^

Chuck,
I am extremely disappointed with the loss of our home flying site. We are currently researching locations in the north east area of the state to hold the next KOI contest. And you are right about all the hard work we put into developing the Field of Dreams flying site. My brother Tom and I spent many weekends and weekdays digging & grading on the tractor, shooting grade, and doing layout. I hope we can find a suitable location for the KOI soon.
Thanks for your support Chuck.

So sorry to hear you guys lost your field.  I know how much time and work you all put into that project. I was a beautiful site and a credit to the X47 club.  It breaks my heart especially knowing how hard some work to keep up the tradition.  I know that I'm having a hard time keeping it going with nobody else to fly regularly with down here in Lake Wales. And with the club moving to a new site...runway still in bad shape....sharing the runway with RC.....it's getting harder to keep my heart in it.  Maybe I'm just getting old and cranky..............

Thanks for all the posative feedback you guys. I guess it's better to have worked for something special and had it for a wile than not had it at all.
We must now pay hommage to the stuht gods in hope they will provide us with another place as good as The Field of Dreams was to hold the KOI. We will continue the tradition of the King Orange International no matter what adversity we have to overcome. The fellowship and goodtimes I have shared over the years with everyone that comes to our contest is one of the driving factors that gives me the will to put on a good event so everyone has a good time. Of coarse the other is that it's in my blood, born into it so to speak, the addiction to flying stunt.
Well, enough of my rambling, I'm sure we will have something figured out soon for the next KOI CONTEST in Jan 2012.

Will,
you are right on the mark, it's the people that make it good.
By the way, I'm planning to make it to the 30th anniversary contest in Huntersville if I can get my work scedule to work out right. I haven't been in a few years and I need to get out and do some mountain flying anyway!!!
