Field of Dreams
« on: May 16, 2010, 06:50:04 PM »
I went down to Ponte Vedra Beach for the TPC last week and after departing from St Augustine, I flew over the new field that the X-47 flyers are setting up.
Right off I-95, it should be perfect for the KOI in 2011.
Thanks to Miss Julie for the photography.

Speaking of the Field of Dreams, the actual movie site in Dyersville Ia. is for sale. The ball field with the house all the out buildings and 193 acres for only 5.4 million. You could set up a few flying circles and your own private runway.  y1 y1

I sppent a couple weeks spraying out if Dyersville a couple years ago. Didn't see a lot going on out there. Thats a lot of money for a baseball diamond in a corn field. Beautiful country and some really nice folks.  Watch 'em at breakfast though. If you play their game you will buy almost every time.  :)

Bob:

Thanks for posting the aerial pics.  Now, we will need some "after completion" shots.

Allan asked:

Yes, Allan - N4593F is a 1977 Warrior.
After the success of the Warrior, the Archer went to the same wing, and, as far as I know, after that, Piper never built another Hershey Bar wing.

I plan to make a maximum effort to hit as many contests as I can in 2011. The KOI will be on the top of my list as I saw an early KOI in Miami a lot of years ago as a spectator.

Phil - the KOI is a great event. Well run, it spans two days and offers a variety of events.
Now that it will be at the new field, you can visit St Augustine, a charming and historic town.

Hope to see many more people there in 2011.

Bob
Piper Seneca kept the hershey bar wing. Not sure the Seminole, but I think so.
