How do you carry your "stuff" to the field? I use a regular tool box. But it's not a very efficient way.   John

My son gave me a 2 piece set up, the bottom has wheels and is open on the top and holds 2 gallons of fuel. The top part is a tool box with a lift out tray and handle, all plastic holds all my stuff. On the road so can show pics.

Yea I have seen a few people with these. I wanted one I think. But then I am always looking to make my box lighter. Mike Schmitt from Ill. has a man's field box.

I have a small pit box that I carry to the circle now.  Before I used to take the Ni-Starter and fuel syringe.   Now if you look in the Ford you will find a box with props.  One with lines, machine screws and what ever else I need to build with.  Then another box with tools of all kinds with spare parts.  Have spare plugs in all of the boxes.

Sorry it's taken a bit to get the pics and show you my field box.  I have arthritis and was finding it increasingly difficult to carry my old box to the field.  One day I was at Canadian Tire and they had this one on sale.  I looked at it and felt it would do the trick.  It has wheels and enough drawers and such to hold everything I need.  I have yet to build the crutch on top to hold my plane while working on it.  I'll get that done this winter.

and ps....don't be looking at my dirty workshop!

One of the things I truly enjoy about this hobby is its wonderful simplicity.  Coming back to C/L from the gadget-laden world of R/C, I've slowly divested myself of as much paraphernalia as practical.  The large field box that I used to lug onto the field has been replaced with the lightly modified Goldberg fuel tote in the pic.  Since I don't use an electrical starter or rechargeable batteries of any kind, this allows me to pack light when walking to the pits.  I have a small plastic toolbox with spare props, glow plugs, tools, and extra glow clip/cord assemblies for the Zambelli-style battery box that I use.  Apart from a tachometer, the glow driver setup is the only electrical thing I use.

On the other end of the spectrum, does anybody remember those little four compartment cardboard boxes with a handle, that Sig put out back in the 60's. They were all you needed for Fox and McCoy 35's. I wore out several.

Here is what I use. 1/2 gallon steel fuel can. A lot of space for tools and such. I have sold 2 of these.

Dick, where did you find some 1/2 gallon metal cans?
I tried those same Motts juice plastic jugs.  They deformed
and shrunk after a short time with 40% nitro fuel in 'em.

Hi Stan...to answer that question about the 1/2 gallon cans......I got mine at the local autobody shop.  I just went in and told them what I was looking for and he gave me a 1/2 gallon tin that paint thinner came in.  Didn't cost a dime and I always like to recycle whenever possible.

Very logical, Mr. Spock.  In addition to the other benefits, 40 hours per week of prime building and flying time is something you will miss.

A couple 6 packs and a chainsaw and you can eliminate that tree problem.

The smaller, simpler the better I have found out. Carry Very little extra, this is not a supply center. We  use small tackle boxes. Most have the three drawer plastic type. Carry your fuel by it's self and only what you need in the box but have a extra prop, plug and some hardware.
It just keep getting heavier and bigger!

And about 6 months. There are a LOT of trees near there. Many, many, many acres. And much heavy equipment to stump and level.
