Father's Day Gift
« on: June 16, 2013, 08:25:21 AM »
My wife presented me with a November 1966 issue of Flying Models Magazine!  Inside are the plans and article for the Dick Mathis Chizler.

The ads are great.  A new Fox 35 stunt for $11.29 and a new McCoy 35 for $5.95.  A new Tatone Hardpoint handle with a safety thong was $1.75.  Of course, it wasn't called hardpoint and safety thongs weren't required by AMA back then.

A gift that I will treasure.  Actually, I probably bought that same magazine back then.

How cool is that! When I pick up an old magazine, the ads are the first thing I look at; and I remember well shelling out $5.95 for a McCoy 35. It still runs well and one day I'm going to build a Magician and put it back in the air.

I recently found a copy of 1944 Air Trails Annual.  It has plans and article for Earl Cayton's "Tethered Trainer", including full size curved parts.
