Title: Fancher Pro handle
Post by: Paul Allen on August 06, 2012, 02:50:10 PM
Guy's
One quick question, just nipping the 4/40 bolts is that enough to stop the arm moving?
I wonder if this is enough on a windy day,I see it cannot move any further than the rear bolt
in the slot, but with the arms all the way in, it could slip 3/8" or is there enough crush to mould
the cutout in the arm into the ply?
Thanks
Paul

Personally, I'd suggest getting the overhang set to give clearance for the pinky finger at the bottom, and then set the top fitting at the same dimension...and hit it with thin CA after you have the screws tightened. I don't recall that I had to cut the screws off at all, but I've only made two TED Handles, and that was awhile ago.

I did have one of my TED Handles shift a little bit on pulltest once. It was windy this weekend at the contest, so I glued the one I was going to use. Keith Varley provided the thin CA. Thanks, Keith!  H^^ Steve

I have seven Fancher style handles made from kits and have been using them for over 12 years.  I've never had one slip even a little bit.  I do check the screws periodically.  I fly large stunters some with piped 65's.  Never a problem.  I do rough up the internal part of the arms with 80 grit paper during assembly, but can't really say it's necessary.

I too have not had a Fancher Handle slip afterthe bolts were tightened.   Did have a multi-adjustable cable handle slip on the line spacing.   talk about getting an awakening call.

Hi Doc,
No it's not full...at the moment it's non-existent.  Having a problem with my Domain.  Will probably get it sorted out tomorrow.

Sorry,
Randy C.
