Silicone Tubing
« on: October 26, 2008, 07:54:22 PM »
Hello,

I've been trying to find a source for silicone tubing that's used by some on control line handles.  It's about 1/2" o.d and 3/8" i.d.  Slides over the lines and clips to keep them in alignment.  Most I've seen is bright colored.  Someone said the tubing was used for some types of saltwater fishing lures. I've checked the fishing catalogs I have with no luck.

Any help in locating a source for the tubing would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe

Wouldn't the clear "Aquarium  Tubing" available at Home Depot or Lowe's work about as well? It will cost much less, too.

I found several sources, but most are Medical Suppliers and you shouldn't even ask the price! A couple of possibilities are:

http://www.gore.com/en_xx/products/pharmaceutical/tubing/ASTC-tubing.html
http://www.advantapure.com/apst-silicone-tubing.htm

You'll still need to locate a retail outlet, and the price will be in the $4 - $7 range - per foot!

The bright coloured tubing is probably latex bladder tubing.Combat flyers use it to stop snagging opponents lines.Phil at the Corehouse sells it.

Thanks to all for the help in locating a source for the silicone tubing.  I am trying to find the tubing for a friend who uses it.  I measured the piece he gave me (I guessed in my first post) and it's 3/8" o.d. and 3/16" i.d.  The aquarium tubing I looked at is too small.  I'll try the other sources recommended.  The stuff he wants is out there somewhere!
