I got on FB to keep up with my kids. I kind of thought it was a fade, but I find it a good way to keep up with family and friends. I have about 25 CL friends I keep up with. Some I have not met in RL (real life) but still nice to have a network of CL friends.
If we are not already friends on FB look me up.
-
Yeah same here! Aside from my friends from school, I got about 25 or so CL friends. That's how I got myself a RO-Jett 76, thanks to FB!!! H^^

There's hot F2D chicks on FB too.

Received this in email from Son in law today.
Might come in handy.
Your friends on facebook can announce your location without your permission, even if you aren't there. This can start trouble with your wife/husband, or could notify would-be robbers and ex's of location information. This is an invasion of privacy, but can be turned off by following these steps.
Red Tape Wrestling Tips
While there are several privacy layers available for use with the Places tool, the simplest way to avoid Places headaches is to opt out of automatic placement by friends. It's relatively simple, though I wish it were simpler. Visit facebook.com, click on account, and then "privacy settings." Then, at the bottom of that page, click on the word "customize settings." Under the category, "Things others share," find "Friends can check me in to Places," and select "Disabled." While you are there, review your other settings and make sure you are comfortable with them.

There used to be paper phone books with name, address, and phone number all in one place.
-
I still receive those paper ones. Find them in my driveway. To protect my privacy I burn them when they are first found. HB~>
That'll fix em.
Yea I don't worry about that but also have never allowed my S.S., Credit or banking or other info to make it to the net.
Any body that tries to steel me is in for a shock!
So anyway for those that want or need it there's the info.(up there^^^)

As I keep telling people that want me to join them on Face Book, I don't have time or want to join. I have Stunt Hanger, Hangar Flying, Barton Model Flying Club, Stuka Stunt Works, E-Bay and yahoo mail taking up my time. I still find a little time to build planes. H^^

I got a facebook account primarily to connect with some old friends I hadn't seen in years. I only check it about once a week (maybe). It's sort of like using your phone to cruise the internet, watch movies, etc. To me, a phone is for making phone calls. If I want to watch a movie, I do it at home on a big TV. Maybe I'm just getting old, but I've never seen the point of using a 3" screen to do any of that stuff. To me, it's all marketing and a way for cell companies to get your money. facebook the same. I don't really see any reason to make Mark Zuckerberg more money than he already has.
-
Paul,
I still have your phone number and would rather call. Like Ty, no facebook for me. It may serve a "Good Purpose"(?), but it does have it's down side too.

Face book is fer chicks that have no life like my two sisters. They are nosy, spill the beans on everyone and need to be taken out and put in a cave. Face book SUCKS. Ban face book. Boo, bah, hiss. y1 H^^ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~
I thought about reposting that on face book right now, but then realized my wife might see it. She doesn't see much of what I post here.
-
Well there are parts of the Internet that is not everyones cup of tea. FB is not to replace the phone or emails but kind of what is going on with you. I do not check it much. I do keep up with my family. Life is busy and just a few minutes on Fb and I am in the know. Some people I am friends with I only know from here and have never met face to face. It is a way to get into other parts of there life outside of CL. It is kind of neat to see pictures of there kids. Or motor cycles or othe interest. So it may not be for you. But don't knock it until you try it. And talk about young people? This is how they will communicate in the next 5 years. Businesses are already trying to figure out how to use it in enhance communications internal and to customers. So it is here to stay.
-
You should be aware that EVERYTHING you send, post, etc. becomes a permanent record. Corpoations, the goverment, etc. can retreive info years down the road. This could affect young people, especially, as they apply for a position at a company, or the goverment. Caution should be the word. ED

Why do you need another forum like facebook, My Space, etc...how about just making a phone call or sending an email. I fail to understand why people put personal data on a site; as was mentioned in another posting in this thread the data stays in cyberspace forever & can come back to bite you in the butt.
-
Just like this site or any other web site you have to use common sense.
I would not write any thing down that will come back to bite me.
-
I joined FB way back when to communicate with an old school buddy in Purto Rico. Seemed like a cool idea at that moment. Not 24 hours later I got an email from some chick that wanted to know if I was the father of "Abcdef" Van Duzer who beat upon her son unmercifly for years?
Bye Bye facebook!
And no, I wasn't!
W :P

Ty,
That ain't no crap! I have the same thing with my bi-polar one and her "covent" of little wicked witches!lol I just wish it would go away before the whole world thinks this is an acceptable behavior! facebook is EVIL! VD~
Actually, the concept of FB is right on, when used for its intended purpose of a "social network", but these people of which we speak abuse it daily. too bad. Let me know where that cave is Ty. I'll bring a truck load of 'em to deposit in your collection. LL~
