I climbed a 1000 footer in MI in February to make a parachute jump off it. Cold, exhausting and no safety harness. I was a much younger version of myself with no wife and kids. It was worth the experience, but I'd pass on it today. I took a lot of risks back then but somehow it always worked out for me. Not so well for some of my friends, several were killed.

If I was younger I'd do it. I have absolutely no fear of heights. That does not mean that I have a death wish. I use all of the safety protocols.

I was talking to a co-worker Tuesday evening.  When he found out I had 110 jumps, he asked me if I jumped from buildings or antennas.  "Hell no!" I told him.  I've never known a BASE jumper who didn't walk with a limp or couldn't move his/her arms normally.  I'll do just about any jump I can, but no way in hell I'm BASE jumping.

Now for the bulb replacement job.  I'd do it once.  But my knees are too shot to do it for a living.

Cool Mark, never knew you were a jumper. I jumped 3 of the 4 objects for a BASE number in pretty short order. Building Antenna and Span. Never did get the Earth jump as I got more involved with regular skydiving. I did go on to work and participate in the sport for over 15 years accruing over 4,000 jumps, many from exotic aircraft. I had the privilege of taking over 1,200 people on their 1st (tandem) jump, and as a bonus met my wonderful wife at a skydiving wedding. Skydiving was a huge part of my life pre-wife and pre-kids, I do miss it. Maybe it's time to get current again............ #^

Had to make 3 jumps when I was in teh Air Force to become Flight qualified for flying status.

They literally THREW me out of the C-130 3 times in order for me to get qualified.

Flying is no problem for me. Had a license for almost 20 yrs.

BUT to jump out of a perfectly good flying aircraft.................... yeah, right.................
