Excuses Excuses Excuses----the sunny side
« on: August 01, 2010, 06:38:41 AM »
Low attendance for a contest has a silver lining. We bought enough hot dogs, donuts and pop to feed 20+ people. Due to inertia and a rainy forecast we had 8 or nine flyers. It was a dismal turnout  but it was a blessiong when you consider all the extra donuts and cookies we could eat. #^
That rainy day forecast was a blessing too. It drizzled once all day for about 5 minutes. It was cloudy all day and it was great to not have the sun beating down. And the temperature was comfortable. The wind was lite and it was pure joy to fly our planes. Since there weren't so many of us out there we got done pretty early and used the rest of the afternoon to fly whatever we wanted. Both circles were kept busy all of the time.
We had so many extra hotdogs that even stunt dog Maggie had all she could eat.

Overall I am very happy with how yesterday's event turned out.

There is a silver lining in a rainy forecast.
If it might rain---the turn out will be low and there will be plenty to eat. It won't get too hot or very sunny so the flying will be painless and you don't have to do HSQ8s in the sun. There will be time to sit and chat.
Godbless the guys that stay home.

I was too busy to take pictures.
Just close your eyes and imagine that you are with a group of good friends. The scenery is a luxurient green. The sun is loitering behind a cloud and there are a bunch of model planes in the pits. The women are clustered in a group of lawn chairs talking about whatever it is they talk about. You're either pitting or piloting or waiting to do pit or pilot. The picnic table is stacked with goodies. And there is a lot of pop.

Pop???  Is that the yankee version of a soda?     Last year nine guys showed up for Tom Dixon's Marrietta Meet...So we started
calling and encouraging all the usual attendees in advance about this years event....much better this time....The encouragement
went a long way.   Wish we could join you guys up there too.  Maybe one day.

Greg--maybe when your honey moon wears off with Stacy the planes will come into play again. I've been meaning to come visit you again and fly on your circle but.........well I have a pretty hectic schedule. Maybe one of these days though.
David---yup we call it pop up here. When I read your post I jumped up and told Linda we were going to head out to do some flying with you and bring a couple 2 ltr jugs of Faygo Red Pop. We did a MapQuest search and as it turns out we won't be coming after all........it's just too long a drive.
Doc...........I feel ya.....I like how you picked right up on the humor and I'd type up a great salute but..................the couch needs me. Z@@ZZZ
