There we were, sitting at the table by the window, when a large bird (crow?) crashed full tilt into the kitchen window. We all jumped due to the suddenness of it. About one heart beat later a Red Tail Hawk swooped down and snatched up the bird. H^^

Hmmm, hope the Red Tail does not develope a taste for balsa birds!

I had a rather large hawk knock a slope glider out of the sky! Got a photo of it. I'll try to find it and scan it in.

I once had a hawk flying on the six of my 2M sailplane circling in a thermal. I tightened the circle to gain on him - he adjusted. Figured if he wanted it the sailplane was DEAD. I flew away and so did he...

A few years back while flying at Leigh High School, a Sparrow Hawk dove on John Cockings yellow Oriental.
John nailed the poor bird about three feet up the lines and took his head right off.
Needless to say John felt pretty bad about it, but it happened so fast there was nothing he could do.

Ty,
I was bowhunting a couple of years ago and had a big hawk nail squirrel about 50 yards in front of me. He finished his meal and flew to a tree next to me and about 15 minutes later got a chipmunk (he had a much better day than I did that day).

Was probably 20 or more years ago = hit a really big bird with RC Pattern plane. Airplane totaled and the bird flew away. Nick

It was always fun flying combat planes in the late evening. Seems the Night Hawks did not like us in his/hers territory. Got some feathers a couple of times. The guys at a TOPCLASS 1/2A Mouse Race watch me take out a small bird. I think we found two more peices on the ground besides the wings wrapped around the plane. That Golden Bee just kind of burped and kept on going. I was waiting for the plane to fall, it was going so slow.

I had at read tailed hawk take out a thermal gilder. I was in his lift and he was annoyed......
Also it goes without saying
:## Even a a noble bird like a red tailed hawk eats a little crow sometimes.... LL~

We had a Red Tail with a "captured squirrel" go through the leading edge, between #1 and #2 pylons on one of our B-52s. 30" diameter hole; monetarily? About $20,000 in damage, material and labor. We always wondered if the squirrel was yelling, right before impact..."HARD LEFT...HARD LEFT!" LL~

A couple of years ago I was looking at a rabbit just beyond the wrought iron fence in my back yard, "something" swooped by and the rabbit was gone. Looked a couple of houses down the street, a red-tail with a shredded rabbit in talons was sitting on their fence.
We know when one is around somewhere, the birds disappear!

a LOT of decades ago while I was working as an A&P for a FBO we had a twin Comanche hit by Canadian goose just outboard of the starboard engine and it opened the wing right up. I had to clean that wing out three days later after the insurance guy was there and I tell you, it gagged me all day long! Yuk!
I hit a poor little sparrow year before last on the outboard LE of a stunter and he dropped like a rock but all that showed on the plane was a spot of blood. I was surprised it didn't split the LE.
