A very innovative CL flyer there !. The video is from the Sri Lanka new channel Ayubo but researching model flying in Sri Lanka they have over 20 RC flying clubs and are not a poor country compared to many, so maybe its flown somewhere else in Asia/Pacific. He would have broken so many rules flying here in New Zealand but it looks fun.

Hi Larry,

I am a Kentucky native and I will not wait for Brett to respond.  You see, Motorman, has a habit of letting his alligator mouth overload his hummingbird ass.  He makes up for his lack of intelligence by throwing out insults that he deems funny but make him look like a complete fool, which he is.   In this case I will borrow a quote from William F. Buckley Jr., whom I am sure he has no idea who he was. 

"I won't insult your intelligence by suggesting that you really believe what you just said."

Interesting - I and my long-time flying buddy, Ginger (who was once a redhead but is now as bald as I am) are finding it increasingly difficult to hand-start small diesels, and I'm thinking of pulley-and-cord as a possible solution!

I think it's amazing what he was able to do in his limited space. The air speed looked perfect and manageable for such short lines. Looks like some one I'd want to fly with.

It's not a Fox 35, but they make them for R/C Cars (which might run better than a Fox, not a difficult task...) but they mount on the back, would be fine on a profile, on a built up you would have to... ummm... "relieve" the fuselage, heh heh. Oh, and don't get carried away pulling, I can just see people ripping the front ends off of planes with one of these!

If I remember right I think OK Cub had a pull start on an .049.   Now I remember it was on the front of my OK Cub .049A with red fuel tank.  Worked great unless you pulled toward the prop.   Too bad the gentleman isn't close as he could fly my planes if we could find an area big enough where he lives.

Mr. Know-it-all from Rocky and Bullwinkle would have said, "that appears to be the Tamil alphabet for the Tamil language spoken in South India and Sri Lanka, suggesting the video is indeed from Sri Lanka, also indicated by the lush palm trees." Whatever, that guy has done some amazing innovation working with practically no materials. Better hope he does not break the prop. The wheels look appropriate for the local conditions. Hats off to this kind of inspired tenacity.

p.s. and he's not entirely wrong, in point of fact, I used to do stuff like that with rockets, and with science experiments, having virtually no money of my own (although our household was upper-middle-class by southeast standards) and nearly no access to raw materials (nearest hobby shop being 26 miles away, which for a 8-year-old, might as well have been on Jupiter), scrounge parts and scratch-build absolutely everything I could from whatever materials I could. One difference was that I did it and wound up with competitive models that equalled or exceeded many national records at the time, had I been able to reach a sanctioned contest. Many of my neighbors and schoolmates in Eastern Kentucky were far, far, worse off, there is nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed abut that - I certainly am not.

     The guys in the video did great, with what they had to work with.

   Mike Tyson is on the greatest cartoon I have ever seen - "Mike Tyson Mysteries", where Iron Mike and his team (mythical adopted teenage daughter, The ghost of the Marquess of Queensbury, and an man who has been somehow turned into an incredibly foul-mouthed talking pigeon) form a detective team like Scooby-Doo. The actual content might be anything - it completely defies description. The episodes typically end with no real resolution or in mid-scene.  Mike himself voices, er, himself, and also appears in generally incomprehensible interview segments.
