Was hoping to have it ready by the WKSI contest next weekend but maybe the next one.

Actually there will be a small squadron of these. Three other club members have them under construction.
Will try and post up again when all are complete.

I am currently making/morphing/assembling a Brodak P-40b ARF and really want to experiment on it with panel lines..

Your technique is interesting any advice?

looks to me like drawn line and then airbrush shadow....

Was there any special prep to the skin?

My ARF is all china kote

For some strange reason I read the directions for the decals. They said not to use clear dope over them. That they are fuel resistant.
The directions said I could use some special type of clear ( too lazy to get off the couch and get the name).
So will shoot brodak clear then the decals go on last.

Not sure about the China Kote and ink lines but I think it could be done.

Jim Lynch showed me how to do the shadowing.

It is done by taping right on the edge of the ink line. Then take black pastel chalk and rub it on sandpaper to make powder. The with a small stiff artist brush dust it on the panel line. Blow off the excess then wipe lightly with a paper towel.

You have to be careful not to get it on areas you want clean. Also I found it works best if you work your way into the center of the area your working in.

 FWIW, if you're careful, those Brodak decals showing in your photo are totally safe to shoot over with clear dope. The "Major Decal" brand is also safe.

 Here are some tips:

 Start by carefully trimming out each decal, right up near the color line, leaving only about 1/16" of the clear. Apply them with a bit of soapy water (two or three drops in an old hairspray pump bottle works well) then squeegee them out and let dry for a couple days. Then go over just the decals with a half dozen or so "dry" coats of 50/50 clear, covering the entire decal but focusing most on getting the edges buried and sealed. A small model airbrush work very well for that process. After sealing the decals and they've had a good chance to dry then have at it with your final clear coats.

Very nice, Wayne. Great paint work. I haven't worked on anything in the shop in months really other than a bit of piddling around. After injury, am spending my time rebuilding decks and such. Hope to get back to playing in the shop soon.

Just have to comment because I have seen it mentioned a few times about how Judges (seem to) prefer very shiny hand rubbed finishes

Kinda torques me a bit: Because, for me, a beautiful war plane in cameo ............well you get the idea.... some great modeler did such a grand job of a scale or semi scale war bird......

I love looking at some truly exceptional military dioramas where the model is weathered, worn, shot the hell up, and is actually dripping cherry juice in three paces
There are some exceptional model artist out there
