I was reading Frank Williams article and plans for a profile Bearcat and realized I have a almost new ST 60 RC and a KB 61 that is also used. I was hoping to get peoples thoughts on the better engine for that project.
Thank you in advance for your thoughts and for your opinions.

I would dare say the SuperTiger would be infinitely better.

David,
ST60 for sure .... or a RO Jett .67 .... K&B 61 , not so much ...... I've tried 4 cycle's but they shake too much for the thin fuselage.

I don't agree that "the Super Tigre" would be infinitely better. I do agree that the Super Tigre would probably be a little better because it's about 1 oz lighter, and more parts IE mufflers etc are available for it.
The K&B 61's run is almost indistinguishable from the K&B in terms of power and type of run.
If you are not bothered by the extra oz of weight of the K&B, they could be considered interchangeable.
I have considerable run time in the past on both engines!
However as Frank says, if you want to spring for a RO Jett 67 (or 61 for that matter) that is the better choice over either of the others, because they aren't "paint shakers" like the other two engines and definitely have more potential power. They do of course have a diferent style of run with slightly flatter pitched props and somewhat higher RPM.

I've run both like they say the K&B is an ounce heavier . Power is similar the Tiger might be a touch stronger .

Keep seeing this said and I sure do not understand it. My Saito 56/62's certainly do not shake any more than a ST 60 and I know first hand the Saito 40 shakes a whole lot less than an OS 35S.

Hi David,
I would go with the ST .60 that you have IF it is the light case "V" .60, not the Blue Head. The light case is about 1 oz lighter than the K&B like has been said. If it is the Blue Head ST, then use the K&B .61.

I mentioned the RO Jett 67 cause I've been running it some through the winter to pass the time, and it is, I my opinion, the best of the ROJett's. The engine is truly "undersquare" (small bore long stroke) .... not many of them around. I'm just running it with a header muffler, not piped. I'm told that the Retro 61 is undersquare ... never had one though.

For what it's worth
I would vote for the K&B (that is just me)
I like the way they run, parts are available from MECOA, The mufflers that fit the V cased Tigres FIT the K&B (I just use the ones that RSM sells for the Super Tigre 60 and they bolt right on).
The K&B IS 1oz heavier that the Tigre, but I just like the K&B.
Again, this is just my preference.
