Hello, good morning. My name is Rafaela Silva and I am writing my first topic in this forum.
I started learning Control Line because of my boyfriend, but I'm delighted with the electric airplanes. ;D
Here in Brazil, where I live is a discussion for electric and glow not participate in the same competition!! I wonder if the FAI have any restrictions in leagues with Glow and electric motors together? ???
Thank you for your attention and I hope that what I wrote can be understood.

Rafaela,
Currently there are no restrictions on the type of power plant in either F2B or most other forms of stunt competition. Electric is just another way of pulling the airplane through the air. It is quite, easy to clean up and once you get it set up pretty consistent. Is it unbeatable - no, is it perfect - no, there are those that have a lot invested in IC motors that don't want to see it go away so they try to make it seem as though it has some magic advantage - it does not. Most of the time those that are the haters either can't fly or they don't understand the first thing about making any set up work properly. I hope good sense prevails and they don't separate the electrics out, we need all the flyer's we can get in this event.

I'm turning into an IC engine hater for, it seems, just that reason. I'm not sure if I don't have enough brain cells, or if I've got too many, or if they're just -- Hey look at that squirrel!! -- not paying attention, or what.
Raphaela: the only stunt competition that I know of that bans electric motors is the "Stunt 25" competition down in California; I'm not sure why they decided to do that, but it's local to down there. The AMA and the FAI don't bar electrics, and a good number of the top competitors seem to be switching over.
I think that each has its advantages (even if I can't seem to get my IC engines to run right) and disadvantages; I don't think you're going to see all-electric or all-glow competitions any time soon, unless it's by mandate.

Hi Rafaela,
Nice to see you here.
I was not aware of such absurd discussion. Lately Rules Discussions have been kept between very few then our Confederation COBRA release the changes favoring these few guys suprising the majority.
This is one of the reasons I have decided to quite competing here. I got real sick from all the nonsense!

A few people have suggest this, but it is not currently a proposed rule change, nor do I expect it to be. We used to have a separate event for Electric but even when that existed electrics were permitted in regular stunt. They are combined and are very likely to remain that way.
FAI has no rules separating the two, either, and that too is likely to persist.
I can see no good reason that they need to be separate, and I would oppose any attempt to separate the two.

Speaking as a California "Stunt 25" participant and flyer of an electric stunter, I am confident that if Rafaela wants to come to California and fly an electric in Stunt 25, we can make an exception. In fact all the Brazilian women who feel like coming to California are welcome.

This statement is neither pro or con but just a statement of fact.
The subject comes up (and will probably continue to come up) because Electrics and I.C. engines are separated into different classes in most, if not all, other forms of AMA and FAI competition; whether Free-Flight, R/C, or C/L.
Some of this is due to rules for the particular events having restricted or required certain parameters of the power plant that just don't apply or convert easily to electrics.

Hello Dennis,
Thank you for expressing your opinion. Honestly as a woman I think the fact of not having electric dirt pleases me very much!! HAHAHAHAHA LL~
But no kidding, I also think that he has no such superiority that people are talking about!
Tks again.

Maybe IC or E is a matter of personal taste? Just like people who like to fly old time, scale, etc?? tks

Hello Brett,
I also see no reason to be separated, so I'm asking this question here. Because I have a sister who has completed seven years in April and I've practically everything to mount an electric model for her. I also bought GeeBee Indoor and wish she could have fun without problems, or someone did not let her participate in some competition.
Thank you again,
Rafaela

Hello Mike,
California is a state well known in Brazil as well as the city of Miami (although not close!).
Thank you for your kindness, I am trying to encourage more women to practice C / L in Brazil, I think it's very important! ;D
Maybe one day I participate in this competition with my sister?!!!! hahaha ;)
Thanks again!

Hi Rafaella, welcome on board,
I hope we will have such restriction soon ... can you imagine your small sister to fly your GB in gym with screaming engine full of oil?? VD~ ... your mom will kill you both ;D
but seriously, I do not see reason for F2B, but I can imagine some guys will want to fly IC engines so I expect local or national rules for smoking motors and in that case I will be very lucky to build Supermaster wit LA .46 :- ))))
BTW ... you should practice hard, because if your sister got GB in her 7 years, she will probably beat you next year :- ))))))) ... so hurry hurry ...
BTW 2 ... I did not know why Tania did special GB edition in woman colors, now I see it was excelent idea :- ))))
BTW 3 ... greeting to Bene and tell him to learn soldering wires soon ... LL~

it is little bit unfair, you not need to attach VGs on your wing, that dust which sticks on your oiled wing is good enough, but we will solve that problem somehow ... for example not to clean moskytos evening from LE ... or something like that ;D

The new plane is very light. No VGs needed to make it fly good. Plus they make the plane ugly. n1

Thanks Igor!!
Yes, my mom will be sad ... but now she gets upset because I come home with clothes always dirty oil!! HAHAHAHA
And my little sister does not like the smoke in her hair!! LL~ LL~
I do not let my plane on the runway, because whenever someone goes off, dirty my plane ... hahaha ...

The Gee Bee Candy, was a great idea! When I saw showed it to my sister and she was delighted!! Now there are many children who want to learn C / L. .. HH%%
Next weekend I'll see Bene ... I will talk to him!

Derek, maybe we just need to conform, to upgrade. That's why I ordered a new RO Jett .76 yesterday!

It doesn't matter what powers the plane. Both IC and EP could be perfect setups, it is still the person on the handle that is going to impress the judges and win.
I want to see a picture of this young lady from Brazil. The ones I have seen on e-mails from friends have made me wish I wasn't so old and could move to Brazil. LL~ LL~

Hi Derek, if you change your mind and start working with motor electric, you could sell a PA 75 for me?
My boyfriend has nearly every PA (he will not use, just to keep as a souvenir) and missing a 75. :(
Or if you know someone who has a new I am interested!
Thanks,
Rafaela

Hey Rafaela,
Sorry, I would never sell my PA engines they are just too good. I see some people sell them sometimes and if I see one come up for sale I will let you know.
Welcome to Stunt Hangar. :)

LL~ LL~ LOL .... unfortunately I'm not rich, just saved a bit of money during the days. The PA .40 I have bought last week, now missing the .75 really! :D
Here in Brazil, few people have the PA .75, you could actually sell for a expensive value for someone here! ;)

The subject comes up (and will probably continue to come up) because Electrics and I.C. engines are separated into different classes in most, if not all, other forms of AMA and FAI competition; whether Free-Flight, R/C, or C/L.
R/C aerobatics (FAI F3A and "lower level classes") is probably closest to C/L aerobatics, among those others. There is no separation between electric and IC power there.
