What Does CL have to with the 2017 Solar Eclipse?
« on: April 25, 2017, 05:11:40 PM »
What does Control Line and the 2017 Solar Eclipse have in common? Well at first glance nothing, except on Aug 21st there will be Solar Eclipse and Buder Park will go completely dark during the middle the day.  How often do you get to fly and then see that...

Who is interested in a CL fun fly at Buder Park on Aug 21st?

It will probably really hot but how often do you get to fly on a paved CL circle and then see a Solar Eclipse?

Let me know if there is any interest in organizing a CL fun on that day. It would not be a formal fun fly, bring you have and enjoy Buder Park!

There will also be a strange aligning of the planets spoken of in Revelation 12 on sept 23 2017. It should be an interesting year. This is a jubilee year for the nation of Israel. The last one was in 1967 during the 6 day war. I do not know what it all means, but it must mean something big is about to happen.

Hey Fred!

I'm gonna ask for that day off.  What time is the eclipse and what time will we start flying?

Steve

I have to smile at the news that so many people are planning to travel and spend a lot of money to be under the solar eclipse.  I witnessed a total eclipse in Los Angeles back in the '40s.  Interesting, but not a big deal, once the geometry of the moon passing in front of the sun is understood.
I have better things to do.

I haven't received a huge response to this question even within the Lafayette Esquadrille CL club so it will be very informal. So up when you can!

But I look at this way how often do you get to fly the CL model and then watch the Eclipse? maybe I can get some lights on a model and have some fun with it...

If it goes like when we are supposed to see a meteor shower, it will be cloudy and raining. D>K

That's been my experience too Doc.  But this time it will be special.  It'll be Dark, Cloudy and Rainy.

The Eclipse is  in the afternoon around 2pm or so. I am hoping for clear skies, knowing Midwest weather it will hot and muggy...

I Need lights on a model....
