Title: Engagement !
Post by: PJ Rowland on March 23, 2013, 05:51:48 AM
Hi everyone.

I Just thought I'd share with all my friends on Stunthanger that I am now Engaged ! I have been quite inactive on here over the past few months. Directly after the Australian Nationals ( Dec/Jan ) I came home from that contest bittery dissapointed at having held 3rd and needing to retire due to my wheel jam of all things.. Once home I decided that I needed to take a break and sort my personal side out a little ( Which had been neglected due to my hobby pursuits ! )

So I decided to propose to the one woman who can stand to take all of my habbits and hobbies ! - Rhiannon Lavett.

The photo is of us only a month or so ago. ( I'm the one with short hair... )

The wedding has been scheduled for Feb 9th 2014 - In Melbourne Australia ,there are still a few spots available for those whom might want to attend !

Just for useless information : Australian Nationals 2014 are Dec 29 - Jan 3rd ( Or thereabouts.. )

Good time to take a trip DownUnder !

Unfortunately due to the wedding : I'm unable to attend this years US NATS as I had planned.. My current model was built specifically to come over, however I will simply postpone it till that 2014 year ! - ( She promised ! )

Fingers crossed she keeps her word... ( In everything... ! )  ~>

Good on the both of you.  I notice that the halo over her head is invisible.  Aren't saints supposed to have those?  O lucky man.

PJ and Rhiannon,

Congratulations on your engagement!  You look very happy indeed.  I wish you two all the happiness.  I'm sure the stunt community in North America is looking forward to meeting your bride and have begun full on hug practice as is so common among us stunt folks.

Allana, my wife, also tends to draw out this stunt ritual....

Good luck Rhiannon!  You will enjoy raising PJ as your husband..... Hehehe

Thanks to everyone whom blessed us with their kind words.

Rhiannon took a look at all your responses and she said " WOW your stunt friends are amazing ! "

To be honest for me it was all about moving forward both in my life and with Stunt : Her launching technique is getting better & I was amazed how quickly she picked up on the shapes of the pattern.

We are BOTH looking forward to coming over next year - Rhi is incredible and I have no doubt the Stunt community will open their hearts and arms for us.

AND SHE LOVES PLANES ! : I often get " Look honey - A380... " soo cute.

Congratulations PJ and Herself! Sondra and I have just celebrated our 50th with an eastern Caribbean Cruise with our daughter and her family! She used to launch my Combat planes until I splattered her all up with my blood from a smashed finger! Now she's reasonably pleased with launching my stunt stuff if the oily goo doesn't make her smell too bad! Our best to you two always!

Just to keep everyone in the loop ( No pun intended! )

She performed well in her launching duties at the State Championships - I managed to win Open & Classic...

So she passed that test....... just.. :)

PJ,
Congratulations on the win and thanks to her for the good launching technique.
There is something magic about pretty girls driving pickup trucks, riding dirt bikes and launching stunters but please take my advice and never disclose to her what a "Stooge" is!

PJ,
Rhiannon looks like she is a ball of fun along with her exceptionally good looks. No wonder you look glassy eyed!

It will be 43 years for Linda and me this month. Congratulations from another old fart.

Les : Not sure how I will get away with that "Stooge" denial, she's very smart and I've said before " I usually practice for 7 hrs a day during Nats prep - and I fly alone alot "

Seven hours a day!!   Of course I heard that Bill Wewage would burn a gallon of fuel every time he practiced.   But, if whe learns what to look for on your pattern and you will listen, you may not need that much time practicing.   Myself I get worse with each flight after about the fourth flight.   That is when it becomes time to pull out the fun plane and relax.

You didn't buy her cubic zirconia, so don't let her talk you into electric. Keep running that PA 75!!!!

Congrats on both your engagement and your success at the Vic champs, PJ. I count myself a lucky man that my wife isn't bothered about what CL stuff I buy, or what the car smells like after a day at the field. If you've got one who'll launch for you as well, you're doing very well indeed.  :)

PJ,

I took my bride three places before we got married:  flying in a small airplane, the duck blind and a model contest.  The contest was the 82 NATS where she launched for me in Sr Stunt.  My NATS peformance was less than noteworthy, but I can tell you that having a pretty girl launch for you does make an impression.  Big Art was very supportive that first year.  I did not see him again until the 90 NATS in Vincines.  When I re-introduced myself, the first words out of his mouth were "where is that pretty girl that launched for you in Lincoln?".    When I told him she was home with our two kids, you would have thought he had two new grandkids.  A virtuous woman trumps a pretty airplane and a solid pattern every time.  Congratulations.

31 years later she is still around.  She still puts up with foolishness (all three).
