Yesterday I got 23 emails saying there are new gallery items approved. Is there a way to turn this off?
Thanks
Yes… and no. Depending on factors such as which app you are using to access your email and who your email provider is, you may have many features ranging from simple to very advanced. If you have accessed to rules-based-actions you can create a rule that moves certain incoming messages to a folder (junk, spam, trash, or a folder with a custom name like “Gallery Approvals I Probably Don’t Care About” or “Stuff Moved By A Rule That I Should Probably Review Once A Month And Then Delete”). You can set up a simple one-stage rule such as “if the subject contains the phrase {Gallery New Item Waiting For Approval} move the message to the Trash folder”. After you activate the rule you will never see those messages again (unless for some odd reason Sparky changes the wording coming out of his server). If you want to do it a little differently / carefully or maybe use the same trick for other pesky emails you can do a two-stage (2 criteria?) rule which says:
Mostly the same as the rule above
IF a message comes in from the sender “Sparkyfl@charter.com”
AND if the subject contains the phrase {Gallery New Item Waiting For Approval}
THEN move the message to the Trash folder”.
If you have access to rules in this manner you can set up all kinds of different criteria to slim down your inbox and it’s not really hard to do, but it may be a little difficult to FIND the feature in the first place. Google or DuckDuckGo is your friend. Type in a query such as “I’m using Hotmail for my email server and Thunderbird for my email client how do I create a rule”. It shouldn’t take much reading to figure out whether or not your server/client combo support rules and also where to go to “click” to get started.
That’s a lot of words but I hope it helps someone. Please let me know if it does.
