First chance I have had to post this. Most of you know Elwyn from his photos and thought you would like to know. Just before the weekend Elwyn was rushed to the emergency room with a very bad case of pneumonia. They have him sedated and on a ventilator hoping his lungs recover enough to start working again. He is a very sick boy and all the Gluedobbers are preying for a quick recovery.

Everyone say a prayer for Elwyn tonight, Sure enjoy his great photos, The picture is one that is not seen alot, Elwyn on the other side of the lens.

Wish I had half his knowledge of photo and his gift to get the right shot.

I met Elwyn at VSC a few years ago. Very nice guy and worked his tail off all week. Hope he is doing better.

Elwyn has been a very special friend and helper to me over the past several years in helping me to do my stories about the Brodak FlyIn. He has allowed me to use his photos to help to relay all the good things that go on year after year made all the clearer by his photographic magic. I met him in Tulsa when my wife and I went out to see John Ashford at the Glue Dobbers where he had come over to take some pictures. Such a fine guy! I pray for his complete recovery and return to full function.

Several times Elwyn and I have stood side by side taking pictures at a contest. He is a photographer and I am a picture snapper. Get well quick Elwyn.

Received this email from his sister last night..

Elwyn is making slow progress. Hopefully they will wake him up in a few days.

It was not a heart attack or any of the things they thought at first. The pneumonia caused all the problems, making his heart weak and internal organs to begin shutting down. Heart function is back to normal and other areas are slowly improving, but X-rays still show pneumonia. The doctor expects him to recover, but also says he doesn’t have a crystal ball and that it could take a long time.

speedy recovery for him. As one who has had pneumonia (though not
as severely as what seems to be Elwyn's case) I know what a miserable

His pics are always a delight. Allows those of use who were THERE to be there again and again. I hope for the best. He's in my thoughts. We are lucky in CL to have a generous and able soul like him.

William, thanks for posting his photo. I've never met Elwyn, but feel like I know him from his fabulous photography. I'm wishing him a speedy recovery; I know how tough it can be to be in hospital. (In fact,
I'm posting right now from hospital, tomorrow will be 6 weeks worth of it! I'm going home this Saturday and I'm ready and grateful..)

All we know is he is still in Intensive Care. His sister is suppose to let us know if anything changes and I will for sure let everyone know as soon as I hear anything.

I think I ran into Elwyn for the first time at KidVenture in Oshkosh, and several times at VSC. I wish I could handle a camera half as good as he does, but I'm sure he's that good because he's worked at it. I can feel his pain right now, also. The longest week of my life was the week I spent in the hospital with double pneumonia. To quote Roseann Roseannadanna, " I thought I was gonna die!" Get well soon Elwyn and get home fast, you'll recuperate much faster in your own bed!

Received this from his sister lastnight..

Elwyn started breathing on his own this morning! But it will take awhile for the sedative to wear off, especially as long as he was on it. He is still on antibiotics and other IV’s.

I will let you know when he can have visitors.

Otherwise he is in St Francis hospital, Tulsa and the address can be looked up on the net. Only issue I see with sending them to the hospital is if he might get discharged before the card gets to him. I don't have his home address.

Hi everyone, I was able to drop in on Elwyn tonight. He had other vistors and calls today, and he appreciated them all. He said the hospital was taking good care of him, but the meds make the food "taste like crap". We talked about airplanes, museums, battleships, photography, engines and fuel tanks. He figures television has become worthless or something like that. He's not sure when they will let him out.

Next visiter to Elwyn, tell him it is not the pills making the food taste bad. It is the food itself. I know as I had several months in hospital while they worked on my legs. Don't run into a tow truck with a motorcycle. Also tell Elwyn not to be chasing the nurses.
