Electric smell

As we were flying this morning one of the other fliers commented that he could smell my plane.   As far as I know, only a burning heat will cause that distinct electrical burning smell.  The pictures show how I have everything mounted.  It is a BasAss 3515-710 motor a Spin 44 ESC.  the battery TP 2800 5s is in a cavity behind the motor.  Nothing actually touches the fuselage.  All of the v=components battery/esc are on 1/8" spacers to get airflow on all sides.  Nothing is too hot to touch when it lands and the battery is at a healthy 28-30%.

Any thoughts?

Your airplane been hanging around slimers? The back of my car and airplane stuff all has the fuel smell and I haven't flow IC for years. It comes from being around them. Next question, what kind of smell? Have you checked your current with a load meter?

Separate the components and give the sniff test.  Electrical burn smell doesn't necessarily leave when the heat is gone.  Check the memory function on the ESC and it will tell you max heat on the last run.  That is if you didn't erase it with a new power up.  The memory is for the last run or even power up.

No, that was probably Mike or Doug.  Phillip was convinced there was an electrical smell.

I couldn't smell it.  Personally I just think he was smelling the smoken hot corners that the plane does with the logarithmic flap horn.  I will open up the wiring bay tomorrow and sniff around.  My nose is not the best.  I could ask my wife ... Honey will you go smell my new plane?..... maybe not.
